Well written story, informative and interesting. Makes me want to read more books like it. I appreciate the critical take Krakauer has.

This was truly a remarkable story. I can't imagine going through what these people went through and writing a book about it so soon after. I hope the author has found some peace, I'd be curious to hear from some of the climbers reflecting on what happened now. This has me interested in a deep dive rabbit hole on the subject.
It wasn't always easy to remember who was who as I listened via audiobook, but looking up pictures was helpful.

Why anyone would want to climb Everest is just astounding to me. I’d be curious to read his take on this story like now rather than so immediately after it happened, would there be a bit more reflection or different ideas here? I appreciated how he broke down all of the tiny pieces that made for such a disaster, but I do not feel like it fully addressed every factor at play, like colonialism or maybe even the idea of the “manifest destiny” that plagues the outdoors-y population. An interesting story (though I got mixed up on the names and locations a lot) that I wished had a bit more depth, but wow! Everest is nuts!
