This is an interesting fantasy series from across the pond.

This book makes me very happy and reminds me of a simpler time :)

I absolutely love Charlie Bone and the world that he lives in. This was an awesome introduction to the world and the series and I love the level of detail packed inside of it.

2023
The detail in this series is amazing and this book is a lot of fun.

A young boy learns he has magical powers and is sent to a boarding school for the gifted. Sounds familiar, and the writing isn't as good as that other series, but the plot does pull you in.

A perfect precursor series to Harry potter, unique difference in terms of abilities versus magic, as an adult I still love this series deeply and the narrator for the audiobooks is fantastic. Each book continues to grow with character development, the only thing I find slightly unbelievable is the ages of the characters.

I like the worldbuilding here. A nice change from Harry Potter.

Run & Read #10 ⏰

Still training for this half marathon, so I started another series! Read Charlie Bone in elementary school and had to pick it back up because I’ve been curious!

I didn’t read Harry Potter growing up, but I’m getting very similar vibes after this first book.

I’ll be honest, the story moved really slow and then really fast. There was so much exposition that I was waiting for us to get some more insight into what was going to happen across the series. And then when things started moving, everything happened within like 3 chapters I feel. Don’t feel like a lot of pause was given for development to happen of the story.

There are 7 of these books I think, which I’m interested to see where they go, but basically all major conflict we are aware of is resolved by the end of this book, so I’m lost as to what will happen in the following books.

I remember being extremely fond of these characters though, and that still remains true. Can still see them in my minds eye which is fun to reminisce on!!

These books are great for children and adults. In fact if you want books to read with your kids, this is it. I loved the whole series!
