This was a book series that I started to read when I was a child and after re reading it I am happy to say that it is one I would still read. I find many of the turns predictable but that was part of the charm and the fact that I felt hope while reading the series really warmed my heart.

i missed these booooooks. honestly i think i like them better than the harry potter books. you get to know all the players a lot better and the different endowments and their interplay are a fun time. glad to be getting back into this series
adventurous funny lighthearted fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes

Don't think its a re-read it's an enjoyable read though.

I was obsessed with this book when I was a kid. I even wrote my own version.

This was my favorite book series as a child. I anxiously waited and searched our Borders for new releases all the time. Now that I’m re reading them as an adult I can see that the writing style is a little simple but I’m still very much drawn into the story and the characters. I love that the magic in this isn’t all encompassing but rather a certain talent that only a few kids have and learning the extent of someone’s endowment along the way adds to the whole build up rather than just exposing everyone’s full abilities from the beginning

There are a LOT of similarities between the Harry Potter series and The Children of the Red King series. What makes it a little different is that the timeline in Charlie Bone is more modern and their world isn't as closed off as in Harry Potter's. I really liked that their magic powers are so unique compared to the magic powers that other children's fantasy series protagonists have.

The premise is good, and i think there is tons of potential. This book is a little slow, really, but still a fun read

It was an awesome book recommend it if you like magic and adventures. But I will warn you and say that the 1st book ends in suspense so have the 2nd one one hand.

This is one of those series that I read the first couple books when I was a kid because I had them in Braille but only now discovered that there are more than two books! And so I’m embarking on the whole series because I just have to know what happens. I really enjoyed rereaading this book. Yes, the kids’ logic can be a bit flawed sometimes, and yes the villains are so villainous it’s a bit ridiculous. And yes, the writing is pretty simplistic. But it was still a really fun, fast read, and I’m looking forward to diving into the next book.

Love rereading old childhood memories.
