Sappy and sweet and everything I needed for a spring break read. Not world altering or anything, but I enjoyed it quite a bit!

People either love or hate this book.
I listened to it whilst cleaning my room and rearranging my shelves and I loved the absolute girl power present.
Delilah is a photographer who vehemently avoids returning to her hometown, Bright Falls, where she had a terrible coming of age. She also does not do long-term attachments. When her step-sister asks her to be the photographer for her wedding, Delilah drags herself back, planning to drink and avoid everyone.
That is, until Claire, a stressed bisexual, single mother catches her eye. Thing is, she is one of her step-sister’s best friend and has a way of drawing Delilah in to her scheming and worries.
I loved that the LGBTQ aspect wasn’t the crux or ‘problem’ of the story.
I was expecting Delilah to be a massive b*tch from other reviews which is why I put it off for so long, but it wasn’t contrived or overdone. Most of the time, her attitude was deserved.
Claire was such a sweet character. She wants a positive relationship with her preteen daughter, she’s struggling with her baby daddy, she cares with her whole heart about her friends. Oh, and she owns a bookstore.
I did think they lacked emotional connection. They went from ‘just sex’ to long term super fast and pretty late in the book.
I do wish Delilah afforded Astrid, her step-sister more grace, especially when it seems so obvious to the reader that Astrid isn’t what Delilah has made her out to be in her head.
Delilah is definitely petty and unapologetic which works in some aspects, but sometimes is frustrating. Realistic maybe… who knows?
I am excited to read the others in the series as I have kind of fallen in love with this badass, charming friendship group.
