Now contemplating life as I find these characters so intriguing I'm enchanted with them.
Wondering what this says about me. I just love seeing bad people get their come uppance by less bad people with a moral code. Plus, you know, hot crazy M|M sex in ways I hadn't conceived of yet clearly have all the relatable kinks to. Well played Onley. Next!

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job. I enjoyed the story and H/H. This book was a quick easy low angst listen. Check trigger warnings.

This is such a great book! August and Lucas are just sooo sweet together. How attentive August is to Lucas, and the way he handles him is everything! Can I have an August in my life? Lol

“He wanted to be the one who put Lucas together and took him apart. The one who could make him beg but also made him feel safe. The idea of playing with Lucas, teasing him, torturing him, maybe making him cry just a little…had August harder than he’d ever been.”

August and Lucas have a very unique relationship and I loved it! Just like the first book in this series we learn about August a psychopath that also has autism and a photographic memory. He is a professor by day and vigilante by night. Lucas is a former FBI agent that has visions from touching people or items. When Lucas accidentally touches August and sees a pretty crazy vision their relationship begins. Just like the first book I loved getting to know the mind of a true psychopath and how he falls for this unlikely person. Absolutely recommend!

Psycho & Psychic

Decided I wanted to continue this series now, and it was really a good book for my mood, but generally not as good as the first one. Too many things felt repetitive from vol. 1, and I liked the dynamic of that couple also way more. Still, the characters themselves were nice, and I want to see more of this crazy family. So I will continue with the next one right after.

So, this volume was about August and Lucas, who is a former criminologist of the FBI. He got kicked out and put into a mental hospital once he revealed that he has psychometry, which is the power to read feeling/thoughts from touching objects or people. He accidentally picked up something from a coworker and discovered that he is a serial killer, but of course, nobody believed him or his powers. After he could leave the clinic, he got a job at the same university August teaches at, and when they literally ran into each other, he discovers August's secret. Of course, he is first scared - another killer, what are the odds - but after August explains himself (nah, he is actually like Batman), he accepts his help to hunt down the other one.

What a story... but it's actually rather "calm," just like in the first one. It's more about gathering information and just at the end about actually catching him. At least there was a bit more murder stuff, but still, the focus lies heavily on the relationship. But here is a big problem I have with this series so far - insta-love (ironic since they can't even "love", so obsession might be a better word). It already bothered me in vol. 1, but there I could look over it because of their dynamic and everything was new. Here, it's even worse. They know each other for not even a day, and there is complete trust! Lucas might be thinking he shouldn't trust August, but as with many things, you don't get that feeling from how he acts. It's the same when August says, "I can't feel xyz, but if I could, it would probably feel like what I am feeling right now." So it doesn't really feel like he is lacking anything in that regard 😅

All the "problems" in these books are just solved super easily, or there aren't even any, especially in the relationship. That's why I was a bit bored by it, even though I liked them. I liked that August wanted to submit to Lucas, so he couldn't hurt him (even though that also wasn't a concern anymore after one time), and the short knife play was interesting, but all in all, it wasn't that exciting for me. I actually liked the scenes with the family way more. Especially the beginning was super funny with Adam being excited about someone else also falling in "love" and Noah giving August relationship advice xD Also liked the side character Cricket btw (she works at the coffee shop next to Lucas' apartment and totally supports them).

Also, some thoughts about the psychometry because I thought it was generally really cool, but a bit inconsistent. He could kinda control it, but then his control conviently slipped for no reason when he is supposed to see something. Or how he only gets August nice thoughts, and is it supposed to be direct mindreading? Just a bit confusing at times.

Well, all in all, a book I enjoyed reading, but had some problems with. As I said, I still want to read the rest of the series, and just hope it's not all insta-love or too similar story lines 😅 It's mean cause the book I am most interested in is Aidens', which is the last one. So I have to read everything if I want to know what's going on with him xD But I am also really curious about the others, especially Atticus, who is next 👀

“The psycho and the psychic. We’re truly not fit for anybody but each other. We’re stuck together.”

I am in love with these characters so much, the concept is stunning and I adore how details revealed thoughout. This book may just about beat the first for me, August and Lucas just worked perfectly.

Also enjoyed the psychic element in this one, it was written so well and fit the setting too without becoming a fantasy. I liked how it allowed Lucas an insight, the connection that built between him and August - how he supported and believed Lucas throughout.

The sharing of thoughts and feelings, both intentional and not were incredible with so much emotion. Very graphic, dark and gritty in parts - the serial killer purposefully leaving items to cause harm.

Interesting story as pieces of the puzzle are revealed and they work together to catch the criminals. Again a very satisfying resolution too, how both handle the situation similar to first book in that way and it is just amazing to read.

“Because some part of me chose you and now, I can’t let you go. Don’t ask me to explain the way my brain works.”

The romance is beautiful too, these two were a lot of fun with August's instant adoration of Lucas and Lucas being sceptical. Lots of fun push and pull between them, the use of love languages with the gifts and discussions getting to know one another.

Plenty of steam! With some king of dom/sub, pain and a little blood/cutting towards the end. All seemed very fitting to them and discussed before it happened, it just worked for them.

I loved seeing more of the brothers too and their father, the interactions are always great and really show their bond. Especially loved seeing a little into Thomas background and I look forward to the rest of the series, each one is talented in their own way and I'm excited to find out more.

Overall a wonderful read, so much to enjoy and amazing charactera. Explores many serious topics while still showing a lovely relationship building and soft moments, with plenty of homur too. Happy ending for Lucas & August, the epilogue was perfect

Pefect

Literally screaming. That was the most amazing book. And for what . I do like Noah and Adam more but the "psycho and the physic " literally perfect. Surprise but also not this boook has an amazing well written plot. I love that the author can balance amazing chapters with good smut and good plot. i’m so impressed with this series thus far and will keep reading.

November 2022. I discovered a book series (Necessary Evils) about a family of 7 hot gay billionaire psychopath brothers in their late 20’s through late 30’s who were adopted as children and trained by a psychologist to kill only evil people who haven’t been punished by the legal system.

Each book follows one of the brothers who ends up falling for a guy related to a case in some way (e.g., victim, sibling of a victim, someone already suspicious of the bad guy) and that brother ends up working with the love interest to take down an evil person or group and help them get revenge.
Each involves recruiting help from the family and introducing the love interest to the clan at some point, and ends with a happy ending of the baddies being murdered in a variety of ways and the main character/psycho and love interest happy together.

I listened to audiobooks 1-5 in the last couple weeks and honestly had a blast. They are extremely horny books and have some kinky stuff in them, so not for everyone. But I found it a fun mix of Dexter and Batman and gay romance.

Books two and three were my favorite couples. The series keeps growing on you with getting to know all the members of the family and there’s more humor and quirkiness from book 2 onward. The relationships and dynamics between all the characters gets pretty fun.
