Lucas Blackwell thought that becoming a professor was going to be a fresh start after losing his job with the FBI. After he literally runs into August Mulvaney, his gift of clairvoyance shows Lucas who August really is: someone with blood on their hands. A lot of it. And August... well he feels an instant connection to Lucas and claims him as his brother Adam did with Noah before him. The two of them work out a deal to find the man who is stalking and tormenting Lucas by using his clairvoyance against him by showing him visions of the women he's torturing.

This story kept me on my toes the whole time. I LOVE August and his autistic self. He gets overstimulated by bright lights and loud annoying sounds, so he wears headphones everywhere he goes EXCEPT with Lucas. Lucas is such a a fascinating character, it's really going to take a lot to bump them off the top of my Necessary Evils favorite list. The chemistry between the two of them combined with some.... very creative psychopathy, makes for a thrilling and spicy book that I will most definitely be adding to my Audiobook Trophy Shelf.

Very similar to Unhinged [b:Unhinged|58415294|Unhinged (Necessary Evils, #1)|Onley James|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1624542344l/58415294._SY75_.jpg|91646024] - the books one, as
Spoiler similar to Adam once August decides to include Lucas in his life he would not let go no matter what.(Not in the awww... way but in kinda creepy way). This is one thing I hated in both the books.

The sex scenes are very erratic and appear out of nowhere...Disappointing after such an interesting blurb.
The protagonist after which the book is named - 'August' measures up to the hype created after reading the first book but the other MMC, is very disappointing.
The book had an interesting start but the repeated sex scenes, after every single notable happening is exhausting....tried skipping forward, but same...
So disappointed after the 4.5 STAR read i.e. the 1st book in this series.
Will try again, after some time as both the books are too similar to be read together but not much change in my view of the book is to be expected.

okay i definitely enjoyed this quite a bit more than the first book in the series, which i think can largely be attributed to the fact that i absolutely adore august & found him such a great character to follow

he’s 1000% my favorite brother so far & i loved seeing his attempts towards becoming proficient in romance

i was also so so so happy that we got to see so much of noah/adam in this story so i hope the theme continues in future installments because i’m in no way ready to say goodbye to august & lucas

that being said— i am not really gelling with atticus right now & don’t particularly want to read his story next so i’m going in with pretty low expectations there

mostly curious about aiden & maybe archer at this point

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am so very glad I gave Book 2 a chance this is my favourite by far I have read the rest of the series now and this one still pops into my head.

August is exceptionally smart his IQ is off the charts and Lucas is his perfect match in every single way. And Lucas has some extra senses going on and I loved it.

The knife play was surprising to me but it worked for the story.
Loved the narration I am invested.

Okayyy….August is my favorite Mulvaney brother 💚🥰
