August and Lucas are ✨Psycho✨ for each other and kinda in general. Lucas is our traumatized ex FBI profiler lost his prestigious position when he accused a fellow agent of being a murdered. Which can you really blame the FBI when the reason Lucas has is that he can see things when he touches objects. August is the incredibly intelligent son of billionaire Thomas Mulvaney by day and murderer with a pop diva playlist by night until he literally bumps into Lucas. August imprinting on Lucas like a baby duck is equal parts adorable and deeply concerning, however, his commitment to ensuring he meets Lucas’ needs is so incredibly endearing. These two get up to some even kinkier sex than Adam and Noah.

I liked this more than the first! August was intense but sincere, Lucas was definitely at a breaking point.
Bad guys were super bad - it never occurred to me that people actually do that; I must be naïve though I could have happily remained so.
I was talking with a friend and we agreed that you need a certain degree of belief suspension as this isn’t really a true representation of the mental conditions ascribed to the MC’s.

August Mulvaney, the "brilliant quirky weirdo" as he describes himself, is the genius psychopath with several degrees and a photographic memory. He is a professor of quantum physics, who is usually lost in the sea of his mind.
Lucas Blackwell is the former FBI profiler, rumored to have gone crazy as he claims to have clairvoyance. When he takes up a job in the same university as August as a psychology professor, he's shocked and horrified to find August is a killer too. However, soon they warm to each other, as they discover their true selves.
Trigger Warning~ descriptions of extreme off-page violence, graphic revenge violence, mental health disorders, autism, and panic attacks.
I was very surprised when I realized Lucas was clairvoyant, as I hadn't read the description before reading the novel. I believe in psychic abilities, so I love that the author incorporated an aspect of it into the story.
Psychopathy is a spectrum. This is displayed appropriately by Onley James in her portrayal of each of the Mulvaney brothers. August and Lucas were made for each other. It was wonderful to see how they seemed to fit in each other's lives like a glove. The psycho and the psychic. The chemistry between the two was off the charts! Honestly, I think August might be my favorite Mulvaney brother.
I loved Adam and Noah's cameo throughout the story. The writing style was commendable. The author did a great job describing August's and Lucas's minds. They were so different, yet similar in several ways. Their personalities complemented each other perfectly.
I enjoyed the mystery of the cases they followed and how they used their resources to solve them. I'm loving Calliope and am very intruiged by Aiden. I hope there's a novella for Calliope.
I'm very impressed by Onley James's work and look forward to reading more of her books!

aaaaa este me gustó mucho más, no podía parar de leer, august y lucas son lo más lindo
Just when I thought Adam would be the best psychopath in comes August
OML I don’t even know where to begin. This series so far has been up there with the absolute best reads of this year. I read this story, then I read book 1 again, then I read this one again just because I enjoy them so much. I just couldn’t put this book down. I mean if you have read book one you know what a bunch of psychos the Mulvaney family are and it seems as though they keep finding themselves partners who fit right in. I applaud the author and her brilliance in making a family of psychopaths loveable. Superbly written story with super engaging characters, I mean my favourite part is not knowing what the heck is going to come out of their mouths every time they open them. I am going to wait not so patiently for Atticus’s story and I am on the edge of my seat with curiosity as to what Thomas and Aiden’s story are.
5 stars
Onley James did it again. This book did everything for me. It had some Criminal Minds vibes with the FBI profiling shenanigans, which was interesting. August and Lucas are such an unlikely pairing, but they worked perfectly. The addition of a paranormal aspect was unexpected, but it really worked. The story was great, the spice was hot, and any scenes with the Mulvaney clan were always a joy. There's darkness, there's humor, there's romance, there's action, and of course, there's smut. What more could you want?
