Too sad

medium-paced

Not my favourite Steinbeck book but it's still really good, he never makes me regret the time I've spent reading his words. This book contains 12 interconnected short stories about the inhabitants of Las Pasturas del Cielo or, The Pastures of Heaven. Each and every one of these characters seemed slightly mentally unhinged but their hopes and troubles felt completely relatable, true and fundamentally human. The more I read, the more connected I felt to them, and in the end my heart was fit to burst with emotion.

Magical Steinbeck. A story about nothing but everything, following the lives of a community. Absolutely loved it

Short story collections and Steinbeck, two of my favorite things! The last 3 stories in particular scratched that itch for me.

I’m really bias when it comes to John Steinbeck since he is my favorite author. This is Steinbeck’s second novel and you can definitely feel that. These are twelve interwoven stories all around the ‘Pastures of Heaven’. Each one of the stories follow different characters. The characters go through struggles that are common in his novels. There were so many little things in this novel that come up in his later works, it was enjoyable to see where some of the ideas he had started

I mean, there are classes on Steinbeck for a reason. I didn't love everything or everyone, but it was very well written and characterized. It's very much like real life.

It was also really nice to visit California through Steinbeck's writing since I can't do it in person this year.

12. bölümdeki Robbie Maltby'in hikayesi en beğendiğim kısım oldu.
