Wow. Just wow. I recently have started relishing in historical fiction, and this one is about ww2. I honestly loved this book so much. It made me feel all the feelings, from anger to happiness to grief. If you like historical fiction, love stories, and exposing yourself to the honest truth, I highly recommend this. Just wow.
This is a difficult book to review. While parts of it were enduringly heartbreaking and showed the true test of the human spirit, parts were...cheesy as hell? Call me a cynic, I guess.
Tough read. Important and necessary book. Deeply touched by the relationship of main characters as I personally relate.

This book was a very easy read almost as though it was for the young adult sector. I thought the story was very captivating it felt very realistic but I know so little about Italy during World War II. I think that is why this book gets a three out of five stars, taking on Italy with Jewish survivors is some thing I haven’t seen in World War II historical fiction. However, I really didn’t like the writing style. Like I said it felt very young adult and due to that I think there was a lot that they had missed in writing this novel. I felt as though this could’ve gotten deeper into the hardships everyone had experienced.
