QBQ! the Question Behind the Question: Practicing Personal Accountability at Work and in Life
John G. Miller
This was a re-read (first read years ago) as I continue to acclimate myself to you my new work position. Good reminders of getting beyond blame and figuring out how I can help myself and others.
We are reading this at work for our business book club. The book is a very quick read and has some good reminders in it. I don't think he found anything revolutionary. He also repeats himself sometimes. The material in one chapter is the same as the next chapter.
Read this for work. It was an interesting book to read and I have thought back to some of the ideas in the book.
I read a few pages when I come into work in the morning and this book does give me some motivation to get cracking. The problem is applying the principles. While the concepts in the book are not new, the stories and examples are contemporary and entertaining.
QBQ did make me stop and think about how often I really do "finger-point" to everyone else. Changing from "why" to "how" questions gives me more control and that feels good.
This is a good book to keep handy in case you need a quick "sharpen the saw" topic. I think reading it a few times and putting fort the effort to apply the topics would do a lot of people a lot of good.

informative
fast-paced
QBQ! is a good, short book that provides a specific way to avoid the victim mentality. Though it doesn't provide statistics or case studies showing how a company's productivity increased as a result of the QBQ method, I enjoyed it more than similar books because it wasn't gimmicky.
