A little tricky to read everything in reverse, but enjoyed this book and love Gideon, and I'm still obsessed with this series.
Honestly this has to be one of the best books I have ever read. If you love a fiesty herion and a strong but loving hero you will LOVE this book, I know I did. The whole series is amazing if you start with book one you won't stop until you finish the whole AMAZING series. Huge props to Gena Showalter
TEAM GIDLET!!!! To Part is to Die!!!! I have to say this is my fav in the LOTU series. Gibeon possived with the demon Lies is the best. He can only tell lies and if he utters the truth he would be in pain. Blue hair, tattoos and pirecings eveything that I want in a man lol. Love the Gibeon Talk, at times I found myself reading the sentences to make sure I read it right. Scarlet is possived by the demon Nightmare and she can make those nightmare come true with a single thought. Love Scarlet, felt bad for her at times because she had a horriable life, but she is a strong female who can take care of herself. I recommend reading this book, you wont be disappointed. Can't wait to read Paris and Torin stories.
Gideon keeper of lies falls for Scarlet, keeper of Nightmares, daughter of rhea !!!!!!!
I was truly waiting for a lord on lord book and boy this one didn't disappoint.I love how Gena always manages to get the females strong and sensual yet with that kick ass edge and just the right sprinkle of humor.
The whole ideology of having a secret wife ...well secret to you and everyone you know and have her show up is pretty scary. The background for scarlet is truly touching, then the inclusion of steel the son of their past (omg) This book was aweosme and here's why:
"Those piercing blue eyes met her dark black ones, and he took her hands in his. From the first, you enchanted me. You are more than beautiful. You are smart and strong and determined. When I’m with you, I want to be a better man. I want to be worthy of you. I want to provide for you. I want to give you the life you deserve. One day, I will. Because I know, deep in my soul, that to part is to die.”
Tears flooded Scarlet’s eyes.
“Scarlet of the Titans,” Hymen said, a little choked up himself, “please tell Gideon of the Greeks why you wish to wed him.”
While her knees knocked together, Scarlet struggled to find adequate words. Words that would tell this man exactly how she felt. “From the first moment I saw you, I was attracted to you and hated myself for it. But how could I have known that underneath your beautiful exterior was an irresistible mix of courage, passion and tenderness? You quickly proved your worth, and taught me mine. I was a slave, but you made me a woman

I loved this book, mostly because of Gideon. He's my top fave followed by Sabin. And when this book came out, I jumped like a little girl and raced home to read it along with The Darkest Prison since they were both next to each other.
I don't remember the side stories getting in the way for me too much, don't really remember them much tbh.
Scarlet was alright, I kind of expected the character she was going to be by her name, though she does have her kinder moments near the end of the story.

Gideon and Scarlet are such a good match. Really enjoyed the ups and downs of their story. #TeamGidletFTW
4.5/5
I loved The Darkest Lie. It was refreshing and lovely. Gideon was amazing, I can’t stop loving him. His Gideon Speak was challenging in the beginning, but towards the end I ended up with understanding everything without stopping and translating. It was brain stimulating. He was strong, caring, funny and lovely. I want my own Gideon. He was so sweet and I am amazed how patient he was with Scarlett. He, in his own way, understood that she was hurt – and although demanding, he was willing to wait for her.
Scarlett was a nice-change-of-pace heroine for me. Most of Gena Showalter’s heroines are usually feisty and strong, like Anya, Danika and Gwen, or sweet and strong like Ashlyn and Olivia. Scarlett was vulnerable, and the most annoying of all wishy-washy, but that made her so humane. I could actually relate to her. I could feel her desire to be strong and determined, and stop being weak and causing Gideon problems.
Usually I love the heroines that I want to be like. Strong, stand on her ground, determined and believes in herself, but Scarlett was not exactly my taste in heroine. Yet I ended up liking her a lot. The thing was, the way she always tried to find an excuse to not be with Gideon – was really annoying – but understandable. Because of what she had been through and because of her memories of him – fake or not – hurt her, deeply. That resulted for her to create a wall of ice around her heart and show him away. That’s understandable… a human thing to do. I can relate to it.
Yet in her own way she was strong and her demon was amazing. It was such a nice change to meet a demon keeper where the demon was such a big part of the keeper.
What I was in a way disappointed with was some specks here and there. The one that hit me hard was the supposedly reverse psychology Gideon did on Scarlett. He just said about of lines and ta-daa she was all in fighting spirits. Her reference to “the ice is melting” was overly used. And although I loved them all, there were just too many side stories. They diverted my attentions and some times I struggled with remembering what happened last time with Gidlet. But over all I loved this, but I can only give it four out of 5 stars.

In the 6th installment of the series, Gideon, Keeper of Lies, is confronting Scarlet, Keeper of Nightmares. He wants answers, because at the end of Aeron's book, The Darkest Passion, Scarlet dropped a major bomb on Gideon: She's his wife!
Say what?
Gideon doesn't understand why he can't remember her, although he's had some sort of odd memory about her because they share a special tattoo. She is utterly pissed off that he left her in Tarturus and never returned. However, she can't deny her lust for him, and he certainly can't deny his yearning for her.
Gideon Speak takes getting used to, but it makes Gideon ever so likable. You see, he can't utter a single truth. If he does, his demon gifts him with immense physical pain. So Gideon has to always say the opposite of what he means. "I hate you", never "I love you"; "I want to kiss you" instead of "I want to kill you." "Devil", never "Angel." Can you imagine the frustration this poor man must feel? Thankfully, Scarlet understands his distorted messages, but they definitely do not start out their reunion on a happy note.
Scarlet is a fierce and feisty female who doesn't trust a damn soul. And you don't blame her once you learn about her past and the people who have completely betrayed and deceived her and treated her like dog poo. All due to a little thing called jealousy. [Who the hell holds that demon?] However, she pretty much beats down Gideon to an emotional pulp throughout the book, and you wonder how much more the poor man can take! Even though she's had it as rough as one can have it, I still feel Gideon is too damn good for her! She is definitely not a favorite of the LOTU females.
The Titan Rulers, Cronus and Rhea, have large roles in this book, as they are continually at each other's throat. Cronus aids the Lords, and Rhea aids the Hunters - the human fighters out to destroy the Lords. Gideon and Scarlet find themselves smack in the middle of the B.S. that Cronus and Rhea are constantly dishing out. The Goddess of Memory also plays a big role, and throughout the book you are wondering whose memory was really tampered with...
I thoroughly enjoyed the side stories of Strider, Amun, and William. William has quickly become one of my favorite in the LOTU universe and I so look forward to his story in the future. I don't have much draw to Amun, the Keeper of Secrets, but I am feeling serious pain for him and hope his book is all roses and puppies, and not more fire and brimstone! Strider definitely stood out for me during his parts and I am much intrigued by the Keeper of Defeat.
Conclusion: 3 / 5 stars. I did like the book but it did not speak to me like some of the others. I warmed up to the couple in the end when Scarlet finally showed true compassion and love without jerking Gideon back and forth. I also routed for their demon's reunion!

Ah yes another great installment in the Lords of the Underworld series! Wasn't sure how I would like reading Gideon's book trying to translate what he means all the time, but you know I got the hang of it pretty quickly and luckily she does give some translations so that helped too!! I definitely liked Scarlett! Definitely looking forward to Amun's book to see how he tackles his issue.....
After reading the below reviews, I decided to put forth my own opinion about the latest book from Gena. Her books always have a formula. Most romance novels do. This is why I like romance novels, especially PNR novels because they don't venture too far off from the beaten path, and I know I'm in for an easy but entertaining read.
The main compliant I've read was that Scarlet was too wishy-washy. That she would bounce back from being a hard, kick ass woman to a woman who was crying over herself. It makes me kind of mad that women feel that a woman crying is considered a weakness. Maybe it's the social worker in me who've deal with abused and neglected children, but Scarlet's behavior as an adult was a perfect example of having been dealt with the short end of the stick. She went through hell, or thought she did, and in one moment is told that everything she believed was a lie. EVERYTHING. Yeah, she was a bit annoying with the whole 'we can't be together', but guys do it all the time, so I don't take heed to it, because I know in the long run, they are going to get together.
My favorite part of the book was when Gideon didn't have to lie since his demon was taking a long break getting reacquainted with HER lover, Nightmares. It was refreshing to read him speak without having to mental decipher what he was trying to say. Also, I thought it was pretty funny that Gideon's demon was a girl, and it's the first time Gena has put a gender on the demons. I liked that, because Gena is giving these beings shape and not just voices in our heroes' heads.
Chronus is becoming interesting, and although the Lords were against Chornus at first, as they said, if you can't beat them, join them. Better to work for him and have him help them than be completely against forces more powerful than them and get screwed over ALL.THE.TIME. He's kind of annoying, but then again, he's a Titan and all powerful so that's to be expected.
Aeron really pissed me off with his whole, "I won't be happy without her" spiel about Legion. But I guess it was a plot device to get them into Hell and mess up poor Amun. I hope for the sake of Amun, when he comes back around, he knocks the sh*t out of Aeron.
The only thing I didn't like about the book is the possibility of Strider being paired with Haidee aka Hadiee aka Bitch Who Killed Balen. I just don't get how she can EVEN think this would be believable, but it will be interesting to see. Also, I want Paris' and Torin's story so bad, I could scream. I like Amun and Strider, but I want these stories before the other two.
