This is getting tiresome.

The characters are not interesting by themselves and they keep going about their respective love stories in pretty much the same way. After the second novel it started to sound as if the same song was on repeat. It is simply not keeping me hooked throughout the book.

The plot still has some glimpses of the others in it so that you will be wanting to know what happens to them in the next book, but this is still not enough.

The myriad of Gods, immortals, Hunters and other characters keep parading around until they all sort of blend into one another.

I'm adding this book, but not the whole series to the do-not-bother list. I will not continue reading the Lords of the Underworld.

3.5 stars

I thought it would be a bit confusing to read since everything Gideon says has to be a lie - and it had moments of confusion - but all in all, the author does a pretty good job writing it in a way that doesn't require too many mental gymnastics to keep on top of the dialog. I LOVE Scarlet - the one downside is that I'd have preferred a bit more of her side & history.

Lies was the least character I liked but I did love nightmares so she made this book bearable and enjoyable.

Found that I really didn't care too much about the main couple but all the side stories were interesting. The group going into Hell and the new info with the Titans and stuff like that.
Loveable characters: Yes

I didn't enjoy this one like the others. Too much time on the other characters that is just lead in for later, and the whole translating the lies got old.

The Darkest Lie has been on my TBR pile for months with no particular yen to read it. I think I was getting bored with the series? But I loved it! The charcters were quite interesting and the plot was definitely not run of the mill. I guess Gena Showalter is still an autobuy. Or maybe Lies and Nightmares are just more interesting to me in particular?
adventurous dark medium-paced
Diverse cast of characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Continuing the journey with the Lords of the Underworld. Gideon is one of my faves and his story is endearing. Scar is an interesting and tough FMC, though we have the 'trauma made me this way' trope. Entertaining and quick read.

(Re-Read August 2015)

Gideon could lie to me any day which is surprising because he was never one of my favorite Lords. Before reading his story I thought that his demon was the most annoying one of all but my mind has been changed. The Darkest Lie was not only entertaining but it was hilarious as well. I now love Gideon talk as Scarlet would say and just thinking about his blue hair, tattoos and piercings makes it all the better. This book contains some really big secrets and lots of surprises. My only complaint is Aeron and his obsession with Legion. He keeps putting his friends at risk for her which I cannot understand. She is such a brat not to mention a DEMON and Olivia is too forgiving. Well, I guess she wouldn't be an angel if she was not.......... Anyways, the plot thickens and Amun's story is next...........I wonder what is in store for secrets!!!!
