I enjoyed Gideon as a character, but Scarlet was not for me. I couldn't stand how for 95% of the book she was like, "I cant stay with him, push him away, be cold". It made their connection harder to feel.
At first I was much like some of the Lords who didn't spend all their time with Gideon. It drove me crazy trying to decipher what he was actually saying since he constantly has to speak in lies. But I eventually got used to it and by the end of this story I found that Gideon is actually one of my favorite Lords we've focused on so far. His relationship with Scarlet was complex and their shared past (or belief of a shared past) was an emotional roller coaster. I think they'll be stronger for all the challenges they've faced, real or imagined. Seriously, this was a wild ride. I can't wait to read more of this series. They are just so darn good.
Okay, deciphering Gideon-speak and reading as fast as I can do not go together. Yeah, I knew that they are going to get together, but that was quite a mystery. Things are getting interesting (and complicated) in the Lord's world.
I'm going to be seriously bummed when I finish burning through all of these books. I seem to be mildly obsessed...

OK..... I was dreading this version as whenever Gideon in the past babbles on in his gobbledy gook, i usually skip it..... Now its a whole book of it.
The couple itself Scarlett and Gideon were cute together... but with the whole amnesia back and story with Gideon constantly lying felt like i was trying to solve a hard sudoku puzzle... it was all a bit too much for one book, also with Gideon's declarations of hate and Abuse it was kind of hard to take them seriously... how Scarlet will put up with that for an eternity.... Beats me....
Im 2.5 starring this one
I just did not enjoy it like the others......

This one had lots of twists which was nice, but I felt so bad for Scarlet. To think that your child was killed in front of you is the worst thing that I can think of to happen. I am glad that Gideon and her ended up together in the end. I thought she would try to leave more just because of her thoughts. William and Gilly are going to be interesting, espeacially when he got back from hell and was asking for her. Not hiding his feelings at all. Amun's story is going complicated because of his condition. I have no idea who he is going to be with, but I can't wait to read about it.
Overall, The Darkest Lie was a good continuation of the series, but I felt a little scattered with all the other storylines to follow. I know, however, that each individual book cannot be a complete stand alone, but I often feel that the interconnecting storylines detract from the main characters' story.
Gideon and Scarlet are hot, hot, HOT! together, which I enjoyed, but Maddox and Ashlyn are still my favorite couple ever. I'm wondering, though, if Ashlyn is ever going to have her baby. It just seems like so much time has passed, as the books are not released one right after the other, since we learned of her pregnancy.
Anyway, if you're a lover of the Lords, you'll not want to miss all the delicious new twists in The Darkest Lie, nor all the hotness that is Gideon.
