Life changing. A book that I'll need to read again and again!

This book has been sitting on my shelves since 2004 and I finally decided to read it. I didn't stick to a 40-day schedule, but I did get it done, and overall, I liked it. It's well-written and some of the examples and illustrations are good ones, and it succeeded in getting me to think about my divine purpose in life.

I did get a chuckle when he bashes the idea of "servant-leaders." Rick Warren is complementarian; who does he think is always talking about "servant-leaders"? Hint: it starts with a "c" and rhymes with "blomplementarians." Thankfully, I was relieved that the book contained no hard pushes for complementarianism, which showed great restraint on Warren's part.

I wasn't a big fan of all of the citations of Bible paraphrase "translations," there's a lot of self-promotion at the end, and there were a few cringe-worthy statements (like comparing pregnancy to sin, like there isn't enough stigma about pregnancy already). Overall though, it's a book I could recommend.

Everyone should read this at least once!!

Love this book. Thought provoking insights into why we are here. Great to read one chapter a day or even a week and really meditate on what you read. I have bought a copy for each of my 5 children

I listened mostly via audiobook. I did not take this as a 42 day challenge, but pushed through. The authors ideas are thought provoking and they helped me set my sights for the year ahead.

This is a fantastic book that I genuinely believe has changed the way I see my life. By spending 40 days expanding on five topics, you get to reflect on each chapter, rather than rushing through (as was my original intention). Well worth a read.
