i came into this book with high expectations, and it didn’t disappoint. i’ve seen people rave about how good it is, and im so glad it does live up to that. i docked off .25 because only sometimes did i get a teeny bit bored. mostly at the beginning and a little in the middle, but overall, i fell in love with the main characters and their stories, even if right now i know only the tip of the iceberg. the end was sooo sweet, i loved it so much. i literally cannot wait for volume 2!

This is a modern setting and seems to be a bit of coming of age story. I really enjoyed all the characters and they all worked so well together. This is an excellent start and can’t wait for the next 5 volumes!

This book got me back into reading and reminded me why I love reading so much! I just absolutely love all the characters, with all their flaws and challenges to overcome. Their relationships with each other feel so real, even if Jiang Cheng and Gu Fei are coincidentally running into each other literally everywhere. But I just love all their scenes together.

This was so nice, more of a coming of age story than just romance. Jiang Cheng and Gu Fei are both struggling with the hands they were dealt but they’re able to find comfort in each other, whether they want to admit it or not. The moments where they’re just able to laugh together over things they don’t even really find funny are so heartwarming, especially in contrast to the tough guy front they put on in front of everyone else. The ending where Jiang Cheng isn’t bothered by Gu Fei touching him, whether because he trusts him or because he realized he has feelings for him or a combination of the two, is also so sweet. Overall feels like a very special story and I’m really looking forward to reading more!
