CURSES!! I literally could not put this down nor did I want this thrill ride to end where it did. Thank God for snow days to be honest or I wouldn't have been able to part my eyes from the page. I am desperate to read the next installment, it's ridiculous. This was so fucking awesome.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this series. Henry is adorable and irritating at the same time and MAC is just a FBI teddy bear who is trying to do right by everyone. Scooby doo shenanigans with heart. I laughed alot reading this and am straight on to the final book.

I've just finished the audio and it was great. I loved it just as much, if not more.
SpoilerI'd completely forgotten about the cross dressing sex scene.
It was great!

I forgot everything that happened in first book, so I had to reread.
I wrote in my review of first part that this has to be the most mainstream thing these authors wrote, but they abandoned their formula here- funny and charming tone is exchanged for more serious and angsty one. The reason for my rating is mostly because I didn't like direction authors took with Henry's character- I liked that he was resourceful and charming and sly in first book. Here he was moody and got through some behavioral crisis. It didn't add another layer to his character as much as it changed the wrapping for me.*
Mystery was not very challenging, but twist was introduced and it should make a fun reading in book #3.

*horrible pun penalty.
Just roll with it and I'll see myself out.

Well, this book give us a better understanding on Mac and Henry; we get to know them and their backstories better and that added depth to the story.

We also meet Henry's sister and learn about her and the way in which her disability played on Hery's life.

There is a bit less of fun and a bit more of plot, a perfect mix of them IMHO, although the plot is, at times, as hysterical funny as the 'fun' parts.

Still going strong for me :D

Henry runs off again, but this time it is because his sister needs help because she feels there is an evil presence there. So Henry dresses up as his sister to investigate, dragging Mac into it because Mac needs his witness to also testify that it was a hit man he shot as he is being investigated at work. They also struggle with the push and pull of their personalities as they come closer to a relationship.
It was more tense, so it kept me reading longer than I really had time for. So much fun to read.

Starting straight from the end of [b:The Two Gentlemen of Altona|22439645|The Two Gentlemen of Altona (Playing the Fool, #1)|Lisa Henry|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1408431875s/22439645.jpg|41864532], this is a great follow on story.
After the first book I wanted to see more of what made Henry who he is and I wanted to see Mac loosen up a bit.

Well, I got one! Henry and Viola's past is a big focus, and I could feel his pain and guilt for Viola's accident. The pressure to always be one step ahead in the game is what makes him Henry. But we also saw glimpses of Sebastian, the little boy who really just wants someone to love and support him.
I enjoyed his time in St Albinus
Spoiler but was glad actually when Dreama said she hadn't been fooled by him as I did wonder how he could pull it off

Mac's mystery is only boiling up more, with teasers - no new news on the who and why but a few how's thrown in. And he is not loosening up at all really - still being driven bonkers by Henry. But now feelings are causing the problems not just frustrations.

Another ending leading off into who knows what - scary for Henry anyway but I have a feeling Viola will be a big hit. Looking forward to march for [b:Tempest|22439662|Tempest (Playing the Fool, #3)|Lisa Henry|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1408432005s/22439662.jpg|41864552]

Enjoyed this better than the first, don't know why I left it so long to read. Reading the next in the series right after this. Love how the author is able to marry, humour and sadness(not quite the right word) and not lose anything in the pace of the story. We meet more of the supporting characters and learn more about Henry and Mac in the process.
