This books plays on the fantasy of a teenage girl meeting a handsome older man, crushing on him for years, and finally getting him. In general terms, it's cute, and the story is ok, but the execution was lacking a bit.

For one thing, I was proud of Willa for getting pissed at him and turning him down. But it came off as a plot device to get him to chase her. Honestly, Jackson had his head so far up his ass, I don't think he really deserved Willa. The "love" just came too quick and not in a very organic/believable way to me as a reader. I had a similar problem with the first book in the series. It just happens way too fast. He needed to chase her more and she needed to stand her ground better. I never felt like Jackson earned her loyalty.

The suspense curve ball plot with
SpoilerJackson's mother and half brother showing up, the murder, the investigation
was interesting, but felt like I was suddenly reading a different story than the first half of the book.

Also, people, please, if you're ever under suspicion of any crime, please retain a lawyer and don't answer questions without one. Even if you're innocent. Even if you trust the police. Stuff happens. Things get twisted. You have a right to an attorney... use it. The way it was portrayed in this book really made me cringe. And the lawyer gets hired, but simply chats with them and goes away and continues to let her client talk to the police without her. No, that's not how it works. Took me right out of the story.

The other thing that bugged me was that Willa had a big fight with her friends at one point, only one friend actually apologized, the other friends are radio silent, but somehow everything is ok at the end and they are friends again. I needed to see an on-page conversation about their fight. They were completely out of line (whether they were right or not) and it seems to get swept under the rug.

This wasn't really terrible, but I don't think it was really my cup of tea.

Sweet story.

I didn’t love this one as much as I did book 1. I think some parts were dragged out but overall it was a very sweet story. I enjoyed the characters and being able to heard about Logan and Thea a little more. Now on to the Timid- Short Story and then book 3.

I’m in my Lark Cove era guys

DNF’d at 12%.

There were too many lines that rubbed me the wrong way. The two mmcs so far have been traditional and honestly, kind of misogynistic. I really wanted to enjoy this series but it’s just not for me.

DEVNEY PERRY IS AMAZING.

Seriously though, she is quickly becoming one of my fav authors! Queen of small town romances, I absolutely adore her writing and her characters! I was SOO happy to hear Jackson and Willa's story and it did not disappoint! The narrators were amazing! (I obviously listened to the audio version haha) and I am already on Tragic which is the story of Piper, Logan's assistant from New York! Super excited to continue this amazing series!

skimmed through the last 50 pages this just wasnt for me at all
