I tried reading this a few months ago and just wasn't "feeling" it. Fast forward to 2023 and I decided to listen to the audio version. I literally carried my phone everywhere so I could hear about Willa and Jackson. I loved them.
I'm glad I waited for the right time to listen to the audiobook. I think I enjoyed their story even more because it was the right time for me. I'm going to continue on the Lark Cove journey because I'm really loving all of the characters in this series.

Jackson + Willa
Did I love Jackson more than Logan? Idk I think so.
Willa kinda agitated me at first... like I get he forgot but being drunk and high ain’t a good combination to a perfect memory, but once she explained how hurt she was I liked her. What made me LOVE Willa was how she fought for Jackson. I’ve read hundreds of books in which the man fought for the woman cause that’s just how it goes but Willa fought with Jackson for Jackson and I loved her for it.
Highlights from the book:
“Craftsman Boat For Sale. Like New. $9,000.
Girlfriend Pregnant. Wife Pissed. Need Cash for Lawyer.” (😂 funniest part)
“Do you ever think about finding your mom?”
“No,” I said immediately. “She’s dead to me.”
“Okay.” Just like before, I waited. But she said nothing.
“That’s it?”
She giggled again. “Yeah. That’s it.”
“You’re not going to try and convince me otherwise? Both Thea and Hazel think it would be good to find out where she’d disappeared to all those years ago. They think it will give me closure.”
“If she’s dead to you, then she’s dead to me. That’s it.”
“I’m losing him,” I whispered. “He’s just . . . drifting away.”
Dad reached across the table to place his hand over mine. “Then pull him back.”
“She was my courageous champion. My warrior. My lover. My friend.
My everything.
Willa was the one.”
“It’s easy to love someone when times are good. Real love is about holding on to one another when times aren’t.”

wasn’t the biggest fan of this story and definitely worse than the first book. didn’t like the fmc or mmc, both of them were really annoying and fmc was a pushover for mmc.
honestly the best part was the random murder they threw in there. willa was an insufferable doormat who had been pining for a man who couldn’t even remember her name, and yet she gave him all her firsts . at so many points I yelled “ girl get up!!” at my kindle. I’d like to get back the week I spent trying to finish this
It was okay but definitely not one of my favorites from Devney Perry.
I think the biggest problem for me was that I didnt love the MC, Willa. Willa is a quiet and sweet “good girl” who doesnt really stand up for herself. This was really frustrating to me because there were situations where people walked all over her. I do have to say that throughout the book she did get better at defending herself, a character development that i appreciated. But overall i did not really connect with her. The same goes for Jackson, I feel like I still dont really know who he is even though i just read an entire book about him and willa. This might be because there were a lot of time skips in the book, often the times skips were just a few weeks but because of those it felt like i was missing moments where the characters connected with each other and where i could connect with and relate to them.
The storyline itself was fine. I liked Jacksons grovelling and towards the ending the plot got more exciting. The concept is also something I havent read before: a girl who has been in love with a guy for years even though the guy has no clue the girl even exists (my independent badass female self was screaming at me not to like it though). But i feel like it was missing something, it wasnt giving what i was hoping it would give. Overall 3.5 stars
