This book really enthralled me from the beginning and kept me interested throughout. This was my first taste of Devney Perry's writing and I must say I was very impressed of how I was drawn into the story. 5 well deserved High Angst stars.
Willa was sweet, naïve but held her head high when it came to Jackson trying to woo her for a few weeks when she held an unrequited crush for 9 years. She didn't just fold immediately just because the guy she pined after for years suddenly realized she existed and was interested in dating her.
Jackson was tough after having to go through the foster system after his Mother abandoned him and he was taking care of his brother and helping to raise his best friends son. He doesnt want any relationship commitment so only hooks up with the out of town guests at his bar. Willa admires Jackson from afar. However Jackson is oblivious to Willa's crush even though everyone around him notices.
I loved the charachter development of both Willa and Jackson. I also lived that Jackson had to work hard to be with Willa. She didn't just fold when he batted his eyelashes her way after forgetting her name and the fact they shared a night that meant alot to Willa.

First and foremost, again the narrator was absolutely phenomenal!!
I really wanted Willa's story because of how she was treated in the first one but I just didn't love it.
Don't get me wrong I was still completely engrossed and I really did love their growth throughout it but the miscommunication was killllling me.
I loved being back with Theo and Logan and knowing how they're all doing after what they went through in book one but I definitely missed Charlie. (yes, I know, I know, it wasn't about her.)
I was able to relate to Willa a lot so it was easy to connect with the characters.
The spice?? Incredible.
I'm absolutely going to be reading the rest of the series.

This one was a lot better than the first (Tattered). The twist was unexpected, made me go "what?!" and actually worked well with the story.
Narration was good as well.

I have to admit, I wasn’t a fan of the first book in the Lark Cove series, I regretted reading it and wished I DNFd but I’m so glad I decided to pick up Timid. This story felt so down to earth and genuinely captured what life in a small town is like. Unlike the typical billionaire tropes, which I can no longer do…the characters in this book had relatable financial struggles—paying for things in installments and grappling with everyday expenses. It made the story feel incredibly realistic and refreshing.
Willa, our main character, is a grounded small-town girl who falls for Jackson, a man from NYC with his own past to confront. Their love story is both heartwarming and relatable, especially with Willa’s unwavering support for Jackson as he navigates his demons.
The side characters were delightful too, —Willa’s parents added depth and warmth to the narrative, while Hazel played a subtle yet important role in the background and half brother was a nice addition too…
Overall, I really enjoyed this book! If you’re tired of the billionaire romance trope, Timid is a perfect place to start. While I’m not sure if I’ll continue with the series, I’m so happy I read this one and hope to find more stories like it this.

✨ small town
✨ unrequited love
✨ she falls first, he falls harder
“She was my courageous champion. My warrior. My lover. My friend. My everything. Willa was the one.”
Willa Doon has been infatuated with Jackson Page since she was a teenager. 6 years older Jackson never seen to notice Willa. But 9 years later Jackson finally notices Willa one night she’ll never forget except the next day Jackson doesn’t remember their kids. His eyes finally open to Willa except she wants nothing to do with him and won’t tell him why.
I really liked the plot of this book. A good unrequited love always get me with the angst. I really liked Willa from beginning to end. She had so much character growth throughout this book and we really get to see her find her voice and pick the battles she wants to have. She stands up to and for Jackson no matter what and she doesn’t back down from a fight. Jackson has had a rough childhood and he’s use to people leaving. He knows this whole time he’s gonna have to let Willa go before she leaves him. As comes the dreaded third act break up except Willa won’t take no for an answer and I loved it. I love seeing a heroine stand up for what she wants instead of letting them do it.
As Jackson goes through life changes and the mystery element in the book Willa is by his side through it all.

Cute small town romance read with inexperienced FMC. Enjoy the characters and the exploring they do together. Worth a read of you are in the mood for a light heated romance.
