I love the mix of historical western with the supernatural and magical twist. Cowboys and witches, hell yeah!

This was a pretty easy read with some cool characters and fun action packed sequences. This is probably my own issue, and my “name blindness” but I struggled to keep track of the wide cast of main and supporting characters, and determining if I had met them already!

Put your spurs on, summon some black magic, and enjoy the ride!

This book was such a bizarre delight. It was so unexpected. The characters are all so unique and lovable in their own ways, even if you love to hate them. I experienced so many different emotions listening to this one. The challenges of a widowed woman in the Wild West as she makes her way with a loony bunch of characters and the shenanigans they encounter along the way really set the tone for all the side quests. John Pirhalla does a great job faithfully following the vibe of the time and place doing justice to the characters' unique personalities and tone. This is one that will haunt readers in all the best and necessary ways.

Sadie Grace is a witch who, depending on your point of view, is a blessing or curse to the small Kansas town she has settled in. Those who believe she is a curse put up a bounty for her which draws many, including witch hunter Old Tom, his mute ward, Rabbit, two cowboys looking for adventure and a widowed school teacher with nothing left to lose. The novel follows their adventures on the way to the witch. I really enjoyed the first two-thirds of this book as a fun, sometimes gory and gruesome adventure, but the final third felt really long and drawn out to me.
