Still going to keep reading these dang books but not sure I love them all that much. Just entertaining and I want to know what happens to all of the characters. So many plot lines to keep up with!

So I feel weird giving this book three stars, but I don't think I can do more. This felt like a "transition" book, and maybe all these things needed to happen to set up for what's happening next, but I just didn't really feel like so much *happened* in this one. I mean sure, there's the weird thing with Shazam, the strange relationship between Papa Roach and Cruce, (It is Papa Roach writing those newsletters, right? Or at least informing.) the odd relationship between Ryodan and Jada, the nothing's-really-happening with the druid and Christian, the odd peace-but-not-peace between Mac and Jada, the still-solid relationship between Mac and Barrons, and then the weird
Spoilerreincarnation of Alina??
. But I still felt like not much *happened*. Except right at the end, and then it ended. And I wasn't ready for it to end. In the beginning, the author noted that she included a "glossary" in this one, and the cliffy happened, and then glossary. Well, damn. I guess that's it. I guess I have to wait for the next one to see WTF is going on. I guess that's not a new feeling with this series, lol. And I *will* wait for the next one. But I just wish more *happened* in this one. :-/

Reread: Definitely good to reread. Lots I forgot. Like big plot things! Weird. But I think I liked this one more than my original 3 stars, so I'm upping it to 4.

Of all the books in the series this was my least favorite. It’s an OK book. There is a potential twist that I’m not a fan of because it changes a cornerstone of the series. I liked the way that KMM approached Dani. I hate to say it but I could do with a few less Mac and Barrons sex scenes. I get it they like some consensual violent sex.
This is a set up book for the next installment so basically I’m saying it could have been a few chapters shorter.

Skim the unnecessary Barron's sex scenes and the series starts to redeem itself.

THERE BE SPOILERS HERE!

Well, this was a good book overall. Mac is starting to bore me a bit. The Jada/Dani parts were the best parts. Whether it was with Dancer, Ryodan or Shazam, I loved these parts of the book. By the end though, I was wishing Jada would find some kind of equilibrium or something. I miss old!Dani. I was craving any sign of old!Dani by the end of the book and was so excited that she was starting to show some of that.

Also, seriously, poor Dani. I can't tell if Shazam is real or if she was imagining him the whole time. That whole scene with the stuffed animal was heartbreaking. And Ryodan's willingness to do anything for her, I just love it.

I kind of wish there was more Dani and less Mac at this point. I'm just much more interested in what happens with Dani/Jada/Ryodan/Dancer/Christian now. More, give me more.

Lor was entertaining too.

The cliff-hanger ending, I need the next book now. Please, and thank you.

Although this book picks up in the end and has some bright shining spots throughout, mostly of it was inside Mac's head which was too much for me. She was constantly overthinking, dwelling and contemplating which grew old. Scenes with the 10 or Jada/Dani were great but all the in between began to wear on me. Don't worry though; I haven't lost faith because the next book will start of 90 mph.

I feel very let down by this installment. majority for it was spent recapping past books, the whole plot was thrown on its end, and the conclusion was beyond cheesy. I'm very frustrated that in the last pages Jada's warrior facade just melted away.

here's hoping the next book redeems this one.

what I was expecting and what I received after reading this book are two completely different things. I thought we would learn more about Jada/Dani, maybe Dani would make a few appearances. Jo and Lor only had a page or two, Kat Mia. Too much of Mac thinking in her head

Love!!!

I hate cliffhangers but I'll take anything Karen Marie Moning has to offer. Another great installment. Can't wait for the next one.

Edited 1/20/2016 to add: I was disgusted to hear that the narrator for this series had pled guilty to accosting a child for immoral purposes, but completely and totally shocked when over the course of the day Karen Marie Moning used her Facebook page to support and defend him. Even going so far as to say she was using him as the narrator in the next book in the series while deleting and hiding comments from readers who were concerned over this. I can’t support this author or this series any longer.

********** SPOILERS AHEAD FROM PREVIOUS BOOKS**********************

I love the Fever series. Love, love, love. The first five books are my crack, cliffhangers and all. I was kind of side-eyeing Iced when I found out it would be about 14-year-old Dani, but KMM got me again and I ended up under Mega’s spell. Then came Burned, which other than some sexy Lor moments kind of left me in meh zone. Mostly because I am at my Mac and Barrons drama limit and can take no more, and also because who was this Jada person showing up out of nowhere taking my beloved Dani’s place? I mean I got the why KMM had to age Dani to move the series forward, but I was still not completely on board with the new her. But whatever, I was going to read Feverborn no matter my concerns. I had my fingers crossed stuff would happen. We’d see more Jada/Dani and get some information on what happened to her in the Silvers. Mac would ditch the invisibility and she and her honey would be good again. The plot would move forward. Ryo and Dani (oops, I mean Jada) would do SOMETHING other than bicker. You know stuff. Questions answered stuff.

That did not happen. In fact, not much of anything happened, which led me to start asking people on Twitter and GR how many more books were left in this series. The answer seems to be two, at least, I think there are two books. I get the feeling that could change at any time.

First let me tell you what I liked:

--There is a better understanding of why Dani invented her Jada persona. I get it, truly I do. Her time in the Silvers was hell, she needed to invent this other person to survive. I think even Ryodan, Mac and Barrons get it now too.
--Dancer. Because I love Dancer.
--Christian. Because I love Christian.
--Christian realizing what happened to his uncle at the end of Burned. I was kind of afraid NO ONE would know for an extremely long time.
--Mac not being invisible anymore.
--Mac and Barrons sexy times. Although wasn’t she pissed at him about the erasing her memory thing last book? But at least, it seems like they are back on track.
--Mac trying to access the book inside her.

Now here’s my frustrations:

--Dani/Jada and Ryodan’s relationship doesn’t really move forward in any way. She lets him tattoo her, which I thought would lead to something, but, in fact, goes absolutely nowhere. There was that hand against the door thing and he does save her at the end while getting burned all to hell, but that’s about it. We already know he’s got feelings for her and she used to think he was the big, bad superhero to her sidekick, so when is their relationship going to evolve? I’m ready for a budding romance or hell, even them talking civilly to each other. SOMETHING.
--Really no questions answered about the black holes other than they are working on it. They know where they are popping up and Mac senses some music or something inside them. Dancer has some friends helping him solve the problem, but you don’t really get any information on those people other than their names and that Dancer trusts them.
--Cruce is trying to break out (of course he is) and has a plan. What plan?
--Alina might be alive. Or could be someone posing as Alina. Or Mac might have brought her back to life unknowingly in her grief. To be honest, I was not thrilled about the new Alina thing. Another plot thread introduced that has to be wrapped up.
--You don’t even get to see Kat and Kasteo and only one scene with Jo and Lor.
--Shazam. I can’t even deal with the Shazam thing. I wasn’t expecting it and while I understand that it was probably thrown in there to emphasize the depth to which Dani had to go to survive in Silvers Hell, I still had that moment where I rolled my eyes.
--Apparently there is a tribunal that, I don’t know, governs the Nine? Only a few mentions of them and that Ryo and Barrons don’t want their changing of Dageus to get out because there could be trouble. What trouble? Who are these people? I thought the Nine were like the badasses of the universe and now there is this body of people who keep them in line?
--Also, the thought of Chloe grieving for Dageus and not knowing he’s still alive, but changed, KILLS ME. I read their book. I loved it. Stop messing with already established HEAs.
--The cliffhanger ending, which leads me to believe the next book will spend a ridiculous amount of time on Mac and Barrons again. I’m ready for Dani and Ryodan to be center stage. Let poor Mac and Barrons have their HEA and quit messing with it.

So really, I have way more questions than answers after reading Feverborn. I was ready for at least some of the plot threads to begin to wrap up, but that didn’t happen. How in the world will all these questions be answered in TWO MORE BOOKS? I feel like new info keeps getting thrown out there on top of what’s already going on and no real advancement in the story arc is being made. At this point, I’m not even overly excited for the next book in the series, just still very frustrated. Final Grade- D+
