When I had read Burned, at the end, I was done with all of this, or so I thought. I really wanted to finish and see it to the end. I decided I'd wait for the last 2 books to be released before I picked them up, and that was actually on a whim. I was at the library picking up something else and I found both books, so, I took the plunge.
The beginning took some doing for me to get back into and I was very grateful for the glossary at the back, I read it first before starting. I had forgotten quite a bit. Anyways, this was better than the last one, for me anyway. This has become one of the strangest stories, you really just need to let your imagination go to see the world created. I have found that I care very little for any of the characters anymore, but the story has kept me going and that's rare for me. I do want to see how this all ends and so I'm off to read the next one. Maybe I can find some character redemption and get back to liking someone.

Ugh, I am so tired of "the nine," and the endless obsession with their junk. God, it's been so many books of the same crap. I feel like the story stopped two books back.

Why was Dani/Jada's story hijacked? I thought we were done with "Ms. Lane" and her endless and repetitive narrative. Nothing happened in this book, the story barely progressed, aside from some cheap soap-like plot devices that were, I guess, supposed to fill us with shock and awe but fell completely flat.

This entire book could have been condensed into maybe two decent chapters. I don't know if the author has some great idea planned out and all of this fluff was necessary to set up the conclusion, or what. I sincerely hope that's the case. It makes me super sad, I used to love this series and now I'm not sure I even care how it ends.

At this point, I may just continue reading the series for Dani.

A reluctant 3.5 stars - it was a struggle to get through but that ending was actually worth it. The last 50 pages are a thrill ride that I've missed in the last two books

One of my favorite series.

SPOILERS AHEAD...

I'm not sure where to start; there's so much I want to say and so many feelings I'm feeling!

I have read the Fever Series since it started. In fact, I had read the Highlander series first as it was coming out. I should know by now that KMM ends her books with very dramatic cliff hangers, but I still get mad when the book ends in a cliff hanger! Especially this one!

I do have to say though, that this series still surprised me and brings out string emotions.

Because I've so many thoughts about this book, I am just going to itemize what my thoughts are.

~While I loved this book, I wish it would go back to focusing on Dani and Ryodan...yes, I am going to refer to Dani, as Dani and not Jada. She will always be Dani and hopefully she will get back to being the Dani she was before the Silvers. Actually, if the best parts of Dani and Jada could be combined, that would be best, in my opinion.

~I'm glad that Jada isn't a split personality of Dani's. I just didn't think that that would have played out well. It worked out the way that it happened with her just hardening herself.

~Mac pisses me off. She doesn't tell Barrons important information that he needs to know, like her sister's body missing. Despite all that they've been though and all that he has done for her, she still does not trust him.

~I've been a Ryodan fan since he was introduced to the series. This book, more than the others, portrays him in many lights and adds more pieces of the puzzle. He is King. He is doing what he thinks is best and is protecting all that he loves and cares about. I love that he is breaking down Dani's defenses.

~Lor and Jo are quite the pair!

~There needed to be more about Dageus...

~There needed to be more Kat and Kasteo.

~Dancer is wonderful.

~I'm thrilled that Mac and Dani have made up. It is one more fix for Dani.

~Is Alina really Alina?

I don't know that I can wait another year for the next book!

Gah! If you had told me 3 years ago that I would give a Fever book 2 stars I would have poured hot coffee on you. What I liked about the original 5 books was that you felt like they were going someplace. It read like KMM knew what her story was going to be, how it was going to end, and how she was going to get it from point A to point B. Now the books read like she just kind of sat down and started writing, and if she gets to a point where she decides to go a different way, she just kind of writes in an explanation (a weak one) and keeps going.

A lot of this book was written on the characters assumptions (example:
Spoiler When Jada and Mac are on the surgery tables and Jada assumes that she's there to have her heart fixed. Who assumes something like that? Would a more likely assumption be that the fae are doing experiments on humans for whatever reason? And the whole fixing this is bs. Like KMM wrote in the ZEWS and couldn't figure out what to do with them.
.

And the characters seem out of character. Like KMM doesn't really know what she wants to do with some of these characters.
Spoiler Jada: First she's crazy, then she's not crazy and pretending to have a split personality, then she's crazy cuz she thinks a stuffed animal is real, then she's not crazy cuz she knows he's not real but pretending he is as a stand in for the real one? Omg my head hurts. But worst of all is Mac. She spent 8 books fighting the book and all of a sudden she thinks she can handle it cuz Jada is in trouble? A few books ago Mac was ready to die if it meant keeping the book's power away from corrupting her and making her into a weapon, but all of a sudden that's no longer an issue? Cuz "good magic"? What an idiot. It's like Mac 1.0 all over again.

If this was any other book i could roll my eyes but still give it 3 stars, but the perversion of what was once my favorite series pisses me off to 2 star review level.

This book was an interesting development of the series. I can't wait to see what the next book holds for Mac and her family. So many things are in flux right now!
