Favorite in the series so far! I love returning to Corinne Michael's Ember Falls & this time we are in for a second chance romance. Against All Odds weaves together a story built on heartbreak, pain, but also love & hope. The contrast of emotions creates a rollercoaster of a ride that I just devoured.
This is a second-chance romance revolving around Everett, when the girl who left him behind comes back to town. Violet returns to Ember Falls after her marriage to her Hollywood actor husband implodes very publicly. Starting over, her emotional journey becomes even more complicated when she discovers she's pregnant with her ex's child. This twist is done perfectly as Everett shows Violet that not only does he still love her, but he will love all pieces of her, including this child.
There is such a beautiful, romantic story that is placed in contrast to some bittersweet themes, such as the pain of being a caregiver to a parent, the anger & heartbreak of infidelity, and feelings of regret of the past. This story tackles these in such a tender way that is delicate & thoughtful. The romance here really stands out as Everett is swoony, caring & a little spicy. He is exactly what Violet needs.
I'm a girl who loves a little drama & this story delivers. It's a page turner that I just could not put down. Plus, if you love audio, the duet narration by Andi Arndt & Robert Hatchet is so perfect. They bring all the emotions & humor to this story that had me captivated from beginning to end.

Corinne really nailed it with this one! A new favorite of the series. I loved Everett and Violet. Iβm a sucker for a good second chance romance and these two were clearly meant to be together. Their connection was clear from the start, picking right up where they left off. Everett is her safe space and her home. He takes care of her and empowers her to be her strongest self. Violet is trying to find her way back to herself, I loved how open, honest, and vulnerable she was with Everett. They truly were a family. I really enjoyed seeing their love and admiration for one another. Honorable mention to the rest of the friend group- they may give each other shit but they are a family. I recommend this for fans of a lower angst second chance that is all lovey.
