I truly love to see a cheater lose everything. Just gives me butterflies!
Against All Odds brought so many amazing aspects into one story. Violet got to rekindle a flame with her first love while simultaneously losing a marriage she didn't truly want in the first place. She also got a child and gets to raise it with a great man instead of a selfish one. The found family trope in this book was SO STRONG.
I loved seeing how Violent and Everett approached their arrangement from the beginning. It couldn't have been easy for either of them to see each other after being apart for so long, but their connection was undeniable and it worked out the best way possible!
I also listened to this story, narrated by Robert Hatchet and Andi Arndt in duet, and WOW. When I tell you I was tempted to slow the audiobook down to listen to these two together, I mean it. They voiced the story so well and I couldn't get enough.
I truly wish I could read this book again for the first time.

Umm… this was certainly a book. It had promise and I liked the beginning parts.
The surprise pregnancy trope
was annoying and completely unnecessary. There was enough drama in this storyline that could have been used for a compelling story and to propel it forward, instead the author fell to an overused trope and stuck to the drama that trope created. I found it to be boring after that. The ending/wrap-up was really long and seemed liked the author was just trying to meet her word requirement.

I was so hoping for a Killian/Hazel romance next (grumpy, billionaire businessman and a take no sh*t small-town businesswoman, best friend of my friend romance), but alas Hazel doesn’t get her romance story and Killian ends up with… his daughter’s best friend? Ick. Sadly, I won’t be finishing this series if we’re going THAT route.

ARC Review

This book was everything you can ever want in a second chance romance! Sweet, emotional and beautifully paced, Everett and Violet captured my heart with their story and didn’t let go.  With a strong connection, chemistry and a deep love, they made me feel a wide range of emotions and made Against All Odds one of my favourite books I’ve read by the author.

Their second chance comes when Violet returns to Ember Falls following a disastrous situation with her ex. Together, these childhood sweethearts find themselves and their love for each other again.

Violet’s story broke my heart at first but then, you also get to witness her rediscovering her worth and take back control of her life which was beautiful. And while she puts in all lot of the work in her journey,  you can’t deny that Ember Falls and Emmett are a also a big part of her story. There really something special about this small town and it’s residents. Which brings us back to Everett. From the way he loved and supported Violet to how he takes care of those he loves, Everett was everything you could ever want. Patient, kind, protective and super sweet. He is the definition of “if he wanted, he would”.  I couldn’t help but swoon over him.

And you have to mention the rest of the friend group, their funny banter and teasing of each other adds a fun layer to this story and has been since book 1.

If you enjoy small town romances, this one is a must read. 10/10 recommend!

I would like to thank Corinne Micheals for the opportunity to read and review Against All Odds.
