OH... this book was nearly perfect. I'm used to Gerritsen's novels by now. Crime with enough twists and turns to keep me going. But danggg it I should have seen that one twist coming. Actually, I'm glad I didn't because around midnight I got to yell "What The hell??"
The plot was decent enough. Heroine uncovers a scandal of rich patients literally buying bodies for parts. Sounds creepy enough, right? Well... what I didn't realize that literally almost everyone was in on it. Hence, the twists. Which I loved.
But I'll get off the "there were twists and turns" portion of this review. You'll either figure them out beforehand by paying attention, or yell in shock like I did.
But there was something... off about this novel. I can't quite pinpoint what it was. It's not that it wasn't Rizolli and Isles. But with those novels I'm used to a sort of sarcastic wit. This came with an entirely different tone of... annoyance. of everything . The main character complained about almost everything about her life - the lack of sleep, the job she actually signed up for, the people. I know it's meant to show her life but it really just made her kind of unlikable.
thankfully sympathy creeped in somewhere between things going wrong and things going off the pier wrong. Literally.
Yes, things could have been creepier. Goodness Gerristen's wrote it. But as a first mystery novel? Oh, almost practically perfect. Feel free to read and enjoy.

I really wanted to enjoy this book. The plot was decent and the overall story was gripping. Horrifying but decent nonetheless. Yet for some recent I didn't fully enjoy it. It was intense at the start and then dragged during the middle only to get incredibly deep and dark at the end. Like even darker than I predicted. It's not a light-hearted read that's for sure.
I waited a long time to read this. It was good-a page turning thriller, a novel of medical suspense. The writing style was tight and smooth. It got you hooked right way. An amazing first novel. Again, perhaps not classic literature but this book did what it was supposed to do:sold books, created an audience (a loyal audience), possibly even movie fodder but a decent one...
In Harvest we meet Abby, she is a resident at a hospital she is dating the attending doctor. The Team of doctors who do organ transplants are trying to recruit her onto their team. After an organ appears out of thin air for a patient Abby realizes something is not quite right. She decides she is going to get to the bottom of it, she doesn’t expect she will be uncovering an avalanche of information that could result in people trying to silence her.
Some things I enjoyed about this book
•I thought I had what was going to happen figured out but there were definitely twists that I didn’t expect at all!
•The medicine terms used in the book were easy enough for most people to understand and I like how the medicine was used in the plot of the book
Some things I disliked about the book
•it was a bit slow (still enjoyable) to start! I didn’t find myself unable to put the book down until like chapter 17. •Sometimes it was confusing because there were so many characters to keep up with.
Overall I really enjoyed this novel. I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys a good thriller book.

My god, this was a fantastic book! I woke up early to sneak into the lounge room to finish it because I couldn’t put it down. The detail put into describing all the events happening to Abby was so well written. Great story
I definitely enjoyed some of the twists to this novel and though I wanted to know more with the ending, it really wasn't a bad one and liked that it allows the reader to make their own conclusions.
I'm not the biggest fan of books set in/around a hospital, but because I like Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles series, I decided to give this a try as well.
The ending could have used a couple more pages (it felt a little too abrupt in my opinion) and some things where a little predictable but other than that I really enjoyed it.
