I was captured right away by the idea of this book and the fascinating sadness of a family so struck by mental illness. However, the way it was written was difficult for me. I expected a chronologically linear story. Instead, there was some bouncing around in time. Alternatively, I would have expected to follow each child's life chronologically, but that didn't happen either. The stories are also interwoven with scientific research.

Overall, it was an interesting book.

Documentation of the treatment of mental illness in our modern culture. Informative and accessible. Relatable to anyone who lives with MI and is actively seeking individualized assistance.
