Overall a mind blowing story. The medical history could get a little involved and heavy, but overall the ability to mix the history in with this family’s suffering was very well done.

A very interesting read. The historical perspective on schizophrenia and the evolution of science's understanding of it was very interesting. I thought the author did a good job of showcasing all of the family members, their relationship to mental health, and their experiences with trauma across the life span. By the second half of the book, it did feel like the story was not evolving as much and it could have been sparred down but overall a good read.

Phenomenally written and so educational. This family endured so much heartbreak and frustration. But this author gave them all such respect and meaning. A fascinating look into mental illness.

4.5 ⭐️. Very well written. The author did an admirable job of portraying the lives of the 6 boys with schizophrenia and the lives of the 6 unaffected children.

Nice start, then began to drag.
