I swear to god I got this book, forgot I had it, started reading it and thought it was a sm*t. Lemme tell you, I was deeply confused and disappointed when it wasn't.
The use of word ''meat'' is so funny, the irrational hatred the ''boys'' have for the MC is downright histerical, I could go on and on and on. But I won't. You can see how I was fooled though.

Bully romance I guess is not the same as that gruff, mean guy turns softy trope. I guess it's like actual physical violence? At one point this girl almost dies? There is also a scene where the whole school is chanting at another character to kill herself. I don't get it! I thought maybe the books I had tried with this label were just extreme examples but it turns out it's me. This is too wild for me.
This book also features A LOT of racism and race as a fetish. So all around bad.
PS there is no sex in this book.
PPS there are no tentacles either, before you pervs all DM me.

This book took an interesting turn at the end, one I wasn't expecting for sure.
Damn, that ending was like WHAAAAAT??? That, specifically, makes me wanna keep reading but the drama is a bit OTT with the mean girls and the boys kinda suck.
That ending..
That deserves 5 stars alone, because what the f***?!

OMG This was SO good
Books transport us into other worlds where anything is possible, but I feel like this book strapped me into a seat and launched me into outer space. I had no expectations. I hadn't read the blurb. I've never heard of this author nor book nor series...and I was completely blown away. So, if you're reading this and have an inkling that you'll read this book: stop reading this review. Just read the book.
It's early days for me really regarding whatever mystery is happening at this academy, but there's been some weird stuff going on and some serious bullying. I've never wanted to jump through the pages and pound some faces in more...
Hazel is a smart girl who's lost her mother and bff in a fire. She has no one else in her life. Struggling to survive, she's dropped out of school to work some crappy jobs until a fancy woman shows up with an invitation to attend a prestigious academy for rich folks. Hazel's won a scholarship. The threats and bullying begin as soon as she steps on campus with the Kings and Queens of the school making it known that she's worthless and urging her most violently to leave. And then it gets kinda spooky. There's a scratching in the walls, a mysterious issue in the gym, secret passages into dark caverns and tunnels...the dark vibe is palpable. I could go on and on, but I think I've written enough.
I'm absolutely smitten.
This book was read as part of the dark/bully reader challenge group on fb. I absolutely recommend it if you like your RH books mysterious, evil, and maybe supernatural. Read this book!
