This book would have another star if the last chapter hadn’t been so goddamn long. I understand building tension, but that last chapter could have easily been a third of what it is. Sometimes less is more.

Meh. Maybe even 2.5 Stars. Not the best king story. I liked the group of friends and the idea of the woods being this lonely place. But I didn't really believe some of the elements of the book. I can see why this is kings down period.

DNF This SK book was just way to far out there for me. But... I did reread the 1st half twice. I tried!!!!
This is an excellent work. It is Stephen King at his best. Fantastic character development, and the story is fast paced. The backstory of Duddits(a retarded boy) is excellent.
I started my Stephen King collection last year and I currently own about half of his published novels.
I loved the first 10-ish I read. IT, Misery, The Shining, Carrie, all that good stuff.
Then came some of the more recent ones, like Billy Summers, Later, Mr Mercedes - also very enjoyable.
Unfortunately I am now scraping the bottom of the barrel.
I spent 40% of this book going "what the fuck?" (not because of the shit weasels, but because I sincerely didn't have a clue what was going on) and the other 60% going "what the fuck?" but this time yeah, because of the shit weasels.
Some of that 60% I enjoyed but only mildly. I felt like I was just trying to get to the end so I could read something else.
I love you Stephen but holy shit. Not a good book.
