I understand the feelings that this book series is just a Hunger Games clone, but it personally doesn't bother me as much as it maybe should. Nearly every kind of scenario has been done before, but so long as it still done well, I don't really mind it. I honestly enjoyed this book and the second in the series and can't wait for the third.

Diesmal ist die Welt noch nicht untergegangen sondern geht noch unter... Genauer: 12 Jugendliche die uralten Geschlechtern anhören sollen im sogenannten Endgame ein Spiel ums Überleben ihrer Sippe spielen. Diesmal sinds so ne Art Alien, die unter anderem die Pyramiden gebaut haben, die das Spiel leiten.... An sich ist die Story ja ganz ok aber überall diese verschwörungstheoretischen Formeln. Außerdem ist nicht ganz klar ob sich die Spieler jetzt umbringen sollen oder nicht. Fakt ist, dass ein Paar der Meinung sind und es geht ganz schön brutal zu... Versteht mich nicht falsch ich bin nicht empfindlich aber für ein Jugendbuch finde ich es etwas heftig. Was mich wahnsinnig gestört hat sind die zahllosen Tipp- oder Übersetzungsfehler. Zum Teil wurden ganze Wörter falsch eingesetzt. Also da hat das Lektorat wohl gepennt. Das strengt zusätzlich an.
Natürlich gibts hier auch Band 2 und jetzt schon ein begleitendes Sachbuch zu den ganzen Rätseln. Es entsteht der Eindruck, als wäre das Buch eigentlich nur geschrieben worden um den folgenden Film auf die "Literatuverfilmungs-Schiene" laufen lassen zu können -,- Bin mal gespannt, was da noch alles kommt. Für die akzeptable Story, die Informationen über historische Bauwerke und die Rätsel gibts 3 Punkte. Nicht dass ich versucht hätte die Rätsel zu lösen, dass ist nicht so meine Intension wenn ich ein Buch lese.

Einige Leute haben mir von dem Buch abgeraten, da es zu brutal sei. Also gestört hat mich das beim Lesen iwie nicht. Fand das Buch ist ziemlich spannend auch wenn ich mich erst mal an die ungewohnte Erzählweise gewöhnen musste. Vor allem finde ich ist die Story echt mal was neues und das mit den Rätseln und Hinweisen hat mir gut gefallen! Werde auf alle Fälle noch weiter lesen, jetzt will ich auch wissen wies ausgeht!
I just like wasn’t in the mood for it. The puzzle itself was okay. I gave the first 100 pages a shot and it isn’t for me right now. I’ll like it later. Probably in a year or two I’ll like it.
Having not read The Hunger Games, I was able to read this novel pretty much unbiased, but from what I know of Collins' series, Frey's story is definitely not the same. With that out of the way, this novel was very enjoyable. Each character is developed well, and the frequent swapping between them leads to near-perfect pacing. Having so many competitors be morally ambiguous is also a plus, as each has near equal rights to the title of protagonist. Obviously some are more villainous than others, but overall, a wide variety of characters, some meeting their end as a subversion of expectations, is utilized extremely well. That being said, there are perhaps too many main characters. Dealing with so many is obviously a daunting task, and the authors dealt with it relatively well, but problems still arise as so many names could possibly become jumbled in the reader's mind. The "normal outsider" character is definitely a good addition, however, and provides a refreshing break in the midst of supernatural circumstances. Overall, the premise is good, the lore is slightly underdeveloped, but character variety and diversity sets the Endgame series apart in its introductory novel.
