First time reading Harry Potter (might’ve read it in middle school but barely remembered anything, and haven’t seen the movie in years).

You can’t knock the world that Rowling created, and I think that’s my favorite part of the book. Of course, the characters are all easily recognizable, but Hogwarts and Muggles and everything in between is what shines for me.

The mystery of the stone was fun and I loved the puzzles/games guarding it.

What’s knocking so many stars off is the pacing - we need to SLOW. DOWN. I know this is YA and the kids are only 11, but we could’ve sat in so many scenes just a little bit longer. I wanted to be immersed, but everything felt rushed. I hope that gets resolved in the later books.

This is my first time enjoying Harry Potter in a different way than just reading the book or watching the movies. I was quite surprised to have finished the whole audiobook and that I enjoyed every minute of it. Ofcourse I knew the whole story since I've read it many times, but I wanted to give the audiobook a try. Sometimes I'm still distracted and I have to replay some parts to catch everything, but it worked all right. I think much better and more enjoyable than with a total new story. Stephen Fry is a very good narrator, though I must admit I might not have liked Hermione from the beginning had the audiobook been my first encounter with the Wizarding World :)...
