My first ever audiobook! I enjoyed this once I got into the format. I spent about half the book or so hoping a couple characters would be eaten by the shark...and many of those were by the end! The audiobook also contains the short story prequel Origins so I'm looking forward to reading/listening to that as well.

The book offered me everything I'd want in this type of book and I look forward to the next part of the story!

I love sharks. I love dinosaurs. So this book was absolutely up my alley, although it did fall short in a few areas.

This book was a fun action-packed read, but I found that it required a lot of suspension of belief. That may seem odd, when the whole premise of the book is that a prehistoric shark magically survives at the bottom of the ocean. But there were some things that didn't make sense, even within the premise. For example, why in the world would a sixty-foot shark ever give up hunting whales for scrawny humans who would never be able to satisfy the caloric intake it needs to survive?

The other aspect of this book that made me grit my teeth was the absolutely terrible depiction of women. There are two women in the whole book, and somehow the MC is/wants to be romantically involved with both of them. Terry's character in particular is the most shallow depiction of a woman in STEM I've ever come across.

To be honest, and I rarely say this -- the movie was much better.

Too many characters, confusing and sexist. Don't waste your time. Go and watch the film!

I like the opening chapter of this. Informing the reader just how long the Meg has been around.
First chapter let's us meet our protagonist Jonas Taylor who believes the Meg to still exsist to this day as well as to his theories on how it is possible.
He is being recruited to look at something that seems to have been attacked by an unknown thing deep in the ocean. The discovery of a possible tooth fuels Jonas into once more diving deep into the waters.
Hearing Jonas go into greater detail about how the Meg could survive is really quite fascinating and I enjoy the scientific aspect quite a bit.
The Meg has in fact been spotted and ruthlessly killed one of the divers down in the Challenger Deep. Great tense scene. The claustrophobic feel of both the dark waters and being in one of the submersibles. And we learn there is more than one Meg...
Truly terrifyingly written scenes as the Meg continues to attack and wreak havoc now that it has surfaced.
Some great last minute action as two different groups converge on the Meg. One to save and the other to destroy. Mounting tension as the Meg wakes up from being tranquilizer and much panic ensues.
The ending was just balls to the wall crazy and I really enjoyed it

I don't care if you judge me for giving 5 stars to this one. I absolutely enjoyed this, there is nothing I would like to change. There is correct chemistry between characters (that includes the Meg) and appropriate people are being killed and eaten. What's not to like?

Update 6/9/2018-

I watched the movie MEG last weekend and only thing to say is - such a disappointment! Book is 100 times better than movie. Not even Jason Statham can save it.

These 3 stars are purely for entertainment reasons

Too much ( at least to me) scientific explanation lost my interest after a while. The scene with megalodon was enjoyable. Also when they talked about Guam, it kind of made me happy as I resides in Guam.

Coming out from the megalodon’s stomach?! Are you serious?!
