It wasn't for me and kinda ruined how I see the movie now.

I enjoyed this story. It gave a ton of background information on Mother Gothel before she ever became a part of the Rapunzel story. It made me understand her more and dislike her just as much as always. The writing is so good that it gets me involved and feeling emotional about it. I love a book where my emotions get involved!

I always appreciate how these stories standalone in their own right but also have touches of the overarching series plotline and characters to keep you engaged in the series itself.

It was interesting to see a different viewpoint of how Mother Gothel became who she was portrayed as in Tangled. Her back story was well written and had plenty of detail.

I particularly liked that the author spent most of the book focusing on the past and building detail around Gothel's life before Rapunzel, simply summarising the known story and adding extra on top of it in the last few chapters of the book.

A great addition to the series.

I found the story line a little confusing. I kept having to stop and reread sections as I was lost about where we were in the plot. The odd sisters who I have enjoyed up until this book felt flat for me. I'm hoping in the next book we get more background info on them and the story line becomes more clear.

Those 3 sisters need to be punished!!
I’m so annoyed with them!
Mother Gothel was one of the most amazing and hated villains in Disney movies so far and to see her backstory…idk if I still feel okay with her.
She literally went mad from losing her sisters I guess and that could be interpreted as why she did what she did but STILL!!

Good easy read.
Nicely ties in with Tangled.
Read it in a few hours.

These villain books would be so much better if the Odd Sisters weren’t entangled into every single story. I loved the first 2 but the farther I get in the more it revolves around the Odd Sisters & the next book is theirs so idk when I’ll get around to continuing these

This is the story of how Gothel became Rapunzel's "mother." I didn't know all of this back story and it made for an interesting read. If you love Rapunzel then you won't want to miss this one.
