A history of the villian of Disney's 'Tangled,' based on the story of Rapunzel. The first half of the book gave insight into Mother Gothel's motivations and was quite interesting. However, as the narrative moved into the period featured in the Disney film, I found it became slow and cumbersome.
A good start but personally, I would have enjoyed this more and possibly given it a higher rating, had it ended before Rapunzel's fated journey.

Unfortunately I’m one of those people who doesn’t DNF books or series, because this series is rough and I am so ready to be done with it. The writing style feels like it’s meant for 10-12yos, but she occasionally peppers in things like beheadings and hanging headless bodies on rusty hooks, so it’s not quite right for either children or adults.
