This book started off amazingly strong but slightly started to falter towards the ending

I am loving this series each book get better and better. It’s so fascinating how all the stories intertwine, making this a really enjoyable read.

The origin story in the first half for Gothel is pretty good actually and evokes sympathy for her. But the way the book ties that in to the movie is kinda terrible, nonsensical, and goes against some of the underlying messages of the film, so.

I was not a fan of the writing whatsoever! It was very dull and lack luster. It was an interesting take on Gothel's story, but that's about the only positive thing about it. Not only that, but the author threw in characters from her other stories that the reader has limited knowledge on unless they've read all of the books. I would have if I had known it was part of a series, however it isn't stated that it is indeed a part of a series on the book itself, so I wouldn't have known going in.

I'm so glad I've come across this book in my life. I've always wondered how and why villains became a person the way they are. This is amazing it's like having a different POV from what you've watched in Disney films. Hoping to read more of Serena's works.

i’m a huge Rapunzel fan. so i figured reading about why Mother Gothel was so obsessed with her would be interesting. IT was not.

I picked this up without realizing it was part of a series, so I had no frame of reference for the Odd Sisters or the bigger story being told. Possibly my opinion would have been more favorable if I’d read the previous books in the series? I didn’t care for the writing, particularly in the early chapters. Overall I would have preferred a first-person view from Gothel’s perspective over this dialogue-heavy emotionless style. It was, however, an interesting take on Mother Gothel’s backstory.
