This book has solidified Nicola Sanders as an author to watch in this genre. She is simply amazing! This book like her first was a heavy hitter that did not disappoint. I found myself cringing at the way Amy was being treated, what she would allow, and the audacity of Jason. I know this is a very real reality for far too many women but it is still mind-boggling and infuriating. I was so excited once she got away but then tragedy strikes and Amy is catapulted into a new life where she’s keeping her real identity a secret. This is perfect for all fans of domestic suspense!
Whew, Nicola can write some frustrating characters. I'm adding her right up there with Freida McFadden and Kiersten Modglin on quick, entertaining reads.
dark
emotional
Graphic: Domestic abuse
4.5! The ending was sweet! And who doesn’t love a good ending?
This book was absolutely infuriating.
I had a hard time in the beginning because Jason was just so awful; it was really difficult to take in. Not only Jason, but Amy's mother. I have a hard time believing someone's own mother wouldn't believe them when they beg for help, but what do I know I guess.
The scenes on the cruise ship were the only part of the book that didn't make me angry. Once she was Liz, I was annoyed all over again.
Also, the whole thing with Barbara? How are you gonna believe this random ass man fell in love with you in a month, but not believe one word coming from a woman who CLEARLY needed to get away from him. I just can't.
And then.... Liz/Amy is going to trust Scott........ after being proved that no one believes her and she needs to trust no one.... she opens the door for Scott. Ok girl.
It was a super quick read, I'll give it that, but I don't think it was worth it.

Spoiler
You're telling me that "you know how men are" is a totally fine excuse for Scott to try to cheat on his wife? Ok fine, be mad at Liz/Amy because it looks like she was cheating, but let the actual husband off the hook??? Huh?Also, the whole thing with Barbara? This is the second book I’ve read from this author and I am upset that there isn’t more.
Her writing and ability to keep you hooked and interested in the story the entire is unmatched.
This was a quick and easy read especially if you are just starting out with psychological thrillers.

I clearly loved it if I read it in one day.
This is my second Nicola read, and while I didn’t love it as much as Don’t Let Her Stay, I still was delighted with this one! Suspenseful, mouth-agape dialogue keeps you hooked. There was a bit of a lull in the middle that I found myself losing interest, but it picks back up and goes into overdrive. Yes, the twists are a little predictable, but with how enjoyable of a read it is, it’s worth overlooking!
