A very strange book with unexpected sexual stuff. Nothing descriptive, but definitely like “Whoa this is where I expected to be!”. It’s interesting but kind of slow

Mini Review of "Stranger in a Strange Land" by Robert A. Heinlein
Pros
• Compelling Science Fiction plot for 75% of the book.
• Interesting and well written characters in the form of Mike, Jill, and Jubal.
• Plenty of reasonable criticisms of mainstream organized religion.
• Taboo busting depictions of free love and polyamory, that mirror the real life counter culture movement
Cons
• The book's attitude towards gay people is rather homophobic.
• There's a somewhat racist remark made by Jubal to towards Duke that even the context can't completely excuse.
• A cringey remark made by Jill where she victim blames certain women for being sexually assaulted.
• The context here is important but Mike absolutely starts a sex cult and this depicted as a wholely positive thing.
• The book doesn't seem understand what "consent" is particularly well. A scene with a young woman forcing herself on Jubal near the end of the book is one example of this.
