One of my favorite tropes in horror and the supernatural is a house with personality, a supposed haunted house. I found the author's insights into what makes a house "haunted" not so much different, but interesting nonetheless, and the overlapping stories that Sager tried to tell could have gotten overwhelming but was handled really well. All in all, I found it to be an enjoyable quick read!

This story gave me whiplash haha. Not sure why it’s called Home Before Dark. Good read though

Listen, I figured out most of the major revelations in this book long before they happened but man I still had a good time. The blend of mystery, thriller and haunting (genres and topics I generally have absolutely no interest in) was very well done and I was invested the whole way through. I picked this up on a whim because the last book I read was so bad I just needed to cleanse my palate but I’m glad I did. This isn’t an in-depth review, I’m just so pleasantly surprised I liked this book I had to tell somebody.
