Interesting, but I definitely had problems with the execution of this book. I agree with other reviewers who said the first part was slow and/or boring. I found that Amber's motivation was not explained well enough, and although I believe the author wanted me to sympathize with Daphne, I found I didn't. At least, probably not as much as I should have. I have other questions, but won't ask here in order to prevent spoilers.
Kind of a slow start but definitely piqued my interest enough to keep me going, as it was fairly obvious Amber wasn’t going to get what she wanted but I wasn’t sure exactly how that would play out. The Daphne sections were great, though hard to read at times, and while I knew what she was doing before it was revealed, I didn’t expect just how evil Jackson would be so his ending was pretty satisfying. I do wish for a different ending for Amber though. As vile as she was, a lifetime of abuse from a sick psychopath is not something I’d wish on anyone so I didn’t find it to be a very satisfying ending for her.
3.5 definitely was intrigued and wanted to finish it but it wasn’t all that. the plot twist did leave me shocked a little bit but it was over all not bad at all but just not my favorite. i’m realizing i don’t like this book trope a lot.
