good book

Catalina and Loren’s story is sweet but spicy. The connection between them is electric from the moment they meet but while Catalina is drawn to a stranger, Loren is drawn to a girl he’s been looking for for awhile. When Loren’s secret on how he knows her comes out, Catalina’s whole world comes crashing down as their past comes back and threatens her life. This book has a good ending and their is no cliffhangers.

All it took was just one out of context line on a TikTok for me to go and buy this ebook! And I'm glad that I did :) this book was too good!

The romance was so well done, it was easily my favorite part of Because You're Mine. The chemistry between Catalina and Loren/Lorenzo was off the charts. And the drama was exceptional! The description of this book offers very little as to what it's about- other than introducing the main characters. Figuring out the plot and the circumstances of how these characters meet was really interesting and could've been excellent if a little more context was included.

However, this book is not without its faults. Firstly, why include Lorenzo/Loren's POV if there was only going to be like, 5 chapters of it? If it's going to be a dual POV, make the POV'S even! Secondly, I encountered a ton of issues with awkward scene transitions, repeated phrases + descriptions of characters, and overall continuity errors that I felt could've been avoided with an editors touch. And finally, I thought the ending dragged on for a little longer than I would've liked.

All in all, I did really like this book! I kept sending my best friend voice notes over text messages expressing the utter shock I felt during some of the plot reveals, LOL! This book reminds me of a telenovela in that way. I already have book two queued up in my kindle library and I'm excited to get into it!

“For the record, I would’ve carried you.” “Huh?” “You said your feet hurt too much to wear heels,” he says. “I would’ve carried you.””

Isn’t that the type of love every girl wants to hear?!

It doesn’t matter if Loren is a badass mafia man, he’s found his weakness in Cat.

I would definitely recommend this book! After reading Half Truths, another book by this author that I gave 5 stars, I was in the mood to read more of her writing so I snagged this one up! I really enjoyed this story overall. I felt like there was definitely more to be explored so that’s why I gave it 4 stars versus 5, but this book just like her others kept my attention the whole way through!

I love that this book has both the male and female POV. I feel like Cat’s thoughts are exactly like what mine would be if I were in her place. Can you imagine being one of two daughters in a mafia family who’s mother had to disappear and you’re not in a good place with your father for obvious reasons? That would be hard.

As always, I love a male perspective. It’s easy for me to understand the female brain as I am one, bit males are another species entirely. I love hearing Loren’s thoughts. I wish there had been a little more about the business side of the book and not just about his feelings for Cat, though I love reading that too. I really loved the interaction in Joe’s car between Joe and Loren. I wish we would’ve been able to get a chapter from Gio’s perspective or even Joe’s but my guess is that wound entail a whole new book!

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. There was suspense, there was family, there was friendship and there was love. I loved all the characters in this story (except for Vinny) and will continue supporting and loving this author and her writing!

I don’t remember when was the last time I read a book about a mafia romance. 🤔 But it’s been a while. That’s for sure. And I have no idea how many stars should I give, something between 4 and 5 stars. It wasn’t the perfect book, but it wasn’t bad either.
Even tho the beginning of the book was so good, at some point I was bored because I felt the need for action. And the action appeared at 60% of the book. And from that moment untill the end, I was hooked!
I almost liked Vinny more than Lorenzo and this never happens. But I fell for the bad guy this time.
The book was good, but the cover was better. 😂 Damn, I loved this cover. Such a hot guy on a black and white cover. Well done! 👍
