Lorenzo and Catalina's story, definitely a great story full of mafia, twist, and emotional turmoil. It's dual POV and the audiobook is narrated by Scarlet Chase and Stephen Dexter, I really enjoyed Stephen's narration he was on point, creating the perfect voice for Lorenzo, accent and all. The emotions were all there, however, Scarlet was a bit different from what I expected, she did good but I loved Stephen more. The story is fantastic, with great pace, and all the brilliant things Claire Contreras is known for. A must-hear for any mafia trope lover.

Alright... 2 stars cause i had alot of expectations from this book especially cause it's my second book of the author and the first one i read was Until I get you which was such a good book but this one wasn't bad obviously but there was something missing, the touch of dark romance was almost not even there and it was very fast paced in my opinion so i guess it just wasn't for me, though i will read the entire series so I'll rate the entire series at the end.
There’s a little of everything going on. It’s a mafia book but not like hardcore mafia. I felt it was more around her dancing than straight up mafia. It’s still a good story and I hope we get a book about her sister. She’s got some crazy stuff going on that would be cool to read about.
When I picked up this book, I wasn't sure what to expect. The blurb gave me enough to know that it was a different trope than I normally read, so it was going to be different than what I usually read. I usually stick to the tropes that are in my comfort zone, so I stepped out of it for this book. While I am not going to gush all about this book, I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the story. It wasn't a stereotypical mafia book like I was expecting it to be. This story definitely kept me listening, especially as I reached the halfway point when the plot really started to pick up its pace.
I won't go crazy and say I want to read all the mafia books I can find now, but I will say I may be a little more open-minded after reading this book.

Because You’re Mine is a suspenseful and steamy romance by Claire Contreras and it's the first book in her "Because" series. Loren and Cat have the best chemistry and I love the push and pull of their relationship. Loren is an alpha male FOR SURE! So if you love a possessive and territorial man, you will 100% love this one!
I had such a fun time reading this one! I was captivated from the first chapter and I look forward from reading more from Claire!
Be sure to pick this on up if you like
- Mafia
- Close proximity
- Boy obsessed
- Spicy romances

Where do I start? This is one of those books where all other plans go out the window. Where you can't wait for your stylist to finish putting the color in your hair so you have 15 minutes to read while you are sitting in a salon! Dinner forgotten about and sleep be damned! Worth the price of a Large iced coffee the next morning and suffering the work day away.
Lorenzo and Catalina's story is built on mystery and lies of omission. But the pull they have towards each other is too strong to be denied. I love that Catalina is a strong female from a Mob family but she doesn't participate in the family business. She might say she's the quiet one in the family but she's never quiet throughout the book, she finds her voice, and stands up to anyone who is trying to keep her down.
This book has many little twists and turns and surprises that you can't help but continue on to the next page and before you know it, the book is complete. I loved the mystery of the things unknown, I loved the fact Lorenzo can't leave Catalina alone and will go to any length to keep her and keep her safe. It's not to dark and gritty like a lot of Mafia books, but the heat between these two is off the charts. You'll fall in love with Lorenzo and his constant growling as he tries to keep his feelings in check for Cat or the fact he always seems to have his hands in his pockets to keep from constantly touching her, but she knows how to get him to give her what she wants.

Good but not great
The story this book told was nice, nothing extreme which is much different than most mafia books. I liked Loren and Cat, their story is definitely a second chance romance, and they fit pretty well together. There is no insta love between these too. They have chemistry and instant lust from the start which does makes a nice steamy read. I would recommend this book to a friend.
The reason for my three star review.
While I don't think the book moved to fast as in character development, I do think it was a bit fast paced. There didn't seem to be a set time frame that this book was suppose to take place in. I actually couldn't figure out how much time had passed for these characters as I read this book. Sometimes it seems like just a few weeks went by and at others it seemed like maybe months had passed for these characters.
I feel like at times we didn't get enough detail and others there was too much that wasn't needed. There are a few scenes in the book that felt rushed and incomplete.
*possible spoilers*
Between Cats mother and father, I felt like there should have been more detail about them at once and it not be so spread out. I think the author was going for mystery with her mother, which honestly just didn’t make a lot of sense to me and I feel like it wasn't as important to the story to keep bringing her up. And for her father, I can see that she was going for suspense and build-up, but for me it fell short. For everything that Cat went through with her parents, which was suppose to have an impact on her as a person, it just didn't seem to measure up to me.
Also the whole thing that started this story in the first place is that Cats sister Emma needed her to take her place in her college class. It was suppose to be for three weeks with classes twice a week. Cat only goes to class twice for her sister out of the whole time her sister is gone, which seems like a lot more than three weeks. Yes this could just mean that Loren just marked her as going to class, but its never mentioned. This is part of what I mean about not enough details and why I was trying to figure out how much time had passed.

I’ve really been digging Romantic Suspense lately and love a good mafia story, so this one fit the bill.
Catalina is a ballerina from a mafia family. Lorenzo is a lawyer with mob ties of his own. They’re gorgeous together. Then shit hits the fan, secrets are uncovered, and their feelings are tested. Good stuff.
It’s pretty light on the mafia stuff - not the level of violence you’d expect, but I really liked that while Lorenzo is protective of Catalina, he’s not super possessive or domineering or smothering, as is sometimes the case with mafia men. Spice is real good - especially the scene toward the end
