Goggins tells of his existence of hurting, anger, resolution, and triumphs.  He explores his own weaknesses and personal development along the way. His story is quite amazing, and most people will be able to take something useful from the book, which is more than I can say for many written in the same vein.

Really enjoyed, but preferred his second one better (maybe bc I read that one first). Love the format of the audio, with all the extra poscasty/challenge parts between chapters!

The book is overall really good. I enjoyed the first half the most. Overall the book is extremely inspiring and definitely motivational for some. I would recommend to those looking for a kick in the ass for life.

Sexist. Toxic masculinity content.

It hurt me to read this book. I guess I’m too soft? The first part about his upbringing was compelling but the toxic masculinity and sexism in the rest of the book was really off putting.

very motivating. Will probably listen again while running

I listened to the audiobook version of this. It was inspiring, and motivational (although Goggins would probably not want it to be a “motivational” book). Biggest takeaway from this is that you can always push yourself more than what you think you can.

I read this because my 21-year-old son recommended it. He got something out of it; I didn't. Maybe I have a bias against narcisstic men, but I struggled to finish and admittedly skimmed through some of the more self-aggrandizing sections.
