I’m very fascinated by how he is able to push himself so far, but on the other hand I’m amazed by his ignorance of his own health.
I do admire his mental toughness, especially where he came from, but I did find it hard to read that he pushed his loved ones away because of it :(.
It was a good, inspirational and fast read.

Who the heck is this guy? Super alpha male type with a few cringey 'pussy' moments, but overall I enjoyed this read. I would never aspire to be like him, but was transfixed by his capabilities, his will power despite almost repeatedly doing it all wrong by being too stubborn to learn first/train second, and his constant mental desire to beat himself up and prove something to himself. Not sure if it was his abusive past that got him to this point of self-torture, and I don't believe he ever mentions seeing therapy for what his dad did to his family (which he should def go all in on), but I was simply wowed by every chapter (pun intended) of his life. Thanks for defying the odds.

Good for him but I'm not following the majority of his advice about pushing my body past my limits. Whatever I want in life is to be happy and satiated by myself not to prove something to myself or anyone else.

Kudos to David tho

I loved this book so much. David is a badass and reading about his work ethic completely changed my mindset around hard work. His reasoning for exercise is not about his physical appearance, fitness, or even health really; it is all about becoming more mentally strong. I love that because it is such a different view from most of the modern world. The book is interesting all the way through and hard to put down. 10/10 would recommend if you're looking to rethink your work ethic and perseverance.
