While this is an incredible story of a man overcoming incredible challenges I think the lifestyle promoted in this book is really unhealthy. Constantly throughout the book David takes pride in working himself so hard he breaks bones and gets intense sicknesses. Rather than focusing on preventing these issues from ever occurring he encourages readers to keep running on broken legs and keep destroying your body when you are doing major damage to it. He also promotes a lifestyle of working so hard you are never happy with who you are in the moment, you accomplished something hard and really pushed yourself to your limits? He would say to stop celebrating and now work harder. I agree we should always push himself but the lifestyle he lives leaves no time to enjoy life and takes an approach that if you are ever satisfied with yourself and your progress you are lazy. Cool stories and the first section about his early life was more inspiring and relatable but after that’s over the book went in a direction that was less motivating and just hard to listen to.
One of the most inspiring books I’ve ever read. Really encouraged me to rethink my mindset and not slack on achieving my goals. Everyone should read it.
