As singer/musician and theatre director myself, Rosie’s story was an inspiring reminder of what it takes to overcome self doubt and to find a way to do what you love - EVEN if it’s not exactly how you originally dreamt it.

Rosie and her “cast mates” in this book all have such depth.  My heart has a special place for Arthur.

With Everything’s Coming Up Rosie Courtney Walsh has created a heartwarming story that grabs your attention and keeps you begging for more.

It deserves more than 5 stars and is a book I will read again and again.

This book is absolutely amazing! One of the best I’ve read in a while!

The beginning was a little slow for me, but after the first two chapters it sped up perfectly. Looking back, the first few chapters were absolutely necessary to understand Rosie, her life, and her relationship with her three best friends.

The author did an amazing job writing this story and I can’t wait to see what she writes next!

This book is a closed door / clean romance with only kisses!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book is a love letter to the theatre. I loved all the characters, the story, all the accurate details about the theatre world and I especially loved the ending. No spoilers, but Rosie made the right choice and I was so happy she did what felt right in her heart.

I relate so hard to Rosie Waterman. Her need to be perfect, to hide when she’s struggling, and the feeling that if she’s not doing exactly what she thought she was going to do, she’s failing. I feel that all on a daily basis and it was so cathartic to read about a character who has all the same feelings I do in the same industry I’m in!

The narrator Jorjeana Marie brought a beautiful lightheartedness to the character of Rosie, but she was also able to dig into the deeper more emotional moments of the book.

Professional theatre is pretty broken right now. It’s impossible to get cast if you haven’t already had a big role. Those Nationwide Casting Searches for the Dolly Musical and Heathers? Yeah, they cast Broadway Stars - all us little people? Nothing. There are SO MANY talented people just waiting to be discovered. Casting Directors, we are begging you to see us. Hear us. Take a chance on us. The theatre world is HARD, but it’s especially crappy right now and Courtney Walsh’s reminder to Dream Big Dreams, but also don’t be afraid to let them shift and evolve is something everyone (especially us theatre people) need to hear right now. Thank you, Courtney Walsh, for the reminder that sometimes our paths aren’t straight lines.

If you love theatre, you’ll love this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book!
I LOVED this book. I laughed, I cried, I laughed while I cried.
I teach theatre, so this book spoke to me in a deeper way simply because of the setting, but I don’t think you have to be a theatre person to enjoy this story. The character growth Rosie experiences through the course of her summer directing Cinderella at the retirement community is relatable to anyone who has had a dream shift and change. Courtney knocked it out of the park for me with this one. Brava!

So cute!!  The old people home!!! Acting! Live friendships

Utterly delightful!

Two things guaranteed to always uplift my mood—books and theatre.  And here, Walsh provides the most heartwarming blend of the two!

When Rosie headed off to Broadway after graduation, everyone expected her to make it big.  But years later, all she has is one “dead body” credit to her name (though it was on Law & Order!).  Now, she’s struggling to hold her dreams together as she directs a community theatre production of Cinderella.

I immediately found myself endeared to Rosie.  Her big dreams.  Her snarky zingers and perfectly timed theatre quotes. Her quirky demeanor.  Watching her journey of growth felt so relatable and authentic.  It reminded me of big dreams I’ve had and how oftentimes the actuality was even better than what I’d dare hope.

The supporting cast of characters brought the fun and threatened to steal Rosie’s spotlight a time or two!  The elderly might’ve been cranky at times, but their wisdom and encouragement added depth and warmth to the storyline.  And her adorable love interest was the sweetest cinnamon roll hero.

But it was curmudgeonly Arthur, with his grunts and wisecracks, that had me wanting to jump through the book for a BIG ole hug.  I loved watching him come out of his shell and would happily adopt him as my own grumpy grandpa.

Don’t miss the author’s note at the back.  Walsh’s love of the theatre shone through every part of this read, but her lived experiences added even more heart to her creation.

This read was pure sunshine.  It brightened my (otherwise drab) days and left me with a big smile on my face.

🎧 This audiobook was a treat.  Jorjeana Marie’s narration was engaging and full of vibrance.  She brought Rosie to life and amplified the Broadway-esque feel of the storyline.  She also narrated The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley by Walsh which I adored.

Many thanks to @tlcbooktours and @libro.fm for the free #gifted copies of this books.
