I don't know what felt missing in this one because it had everything going for it. The right amount of humor, angst, banter, and all but something felt off. I can't point it out but I felt just neutral after reading the book.
The H's twin brother is paralyzed which the H thinks he is responsible for. The few times this book made me emotional was when they are interacting with each other. It's so wholesome and almost brought me to tears.

The MMC deserved better. The fmc was so selfish when she knew how hard he was hurting. Also this book didnt feel like a love story.
I was feeling a second chance romance and this did not disappoint. There’s just something about the sports romance sub-genre that really sucks me in and it’s just plain enjoyable to read. However, I do feel that certain things could’ve been done better in this one. For starters, I would have liked to read more interactions between the male mc’s teammates and him especially because he’s the captain of the team. When it comes to the agent, I wanted to see more of her trying to win the male mc over professionally. He needed a friend more than anything at the time but I would have liked to read more of her professional skills. Another thing I wanted to happen was for the two mcs to have lunch/dinner with each other’s family particularly the male mc’s side to clear the air regarding the past and where they stood with it and come closer to them. Lastly, regarding the past, one scene in particular I found unnecessary to read and for it to happen too. Overall, it felt both happy and sad, and I even teared up a bit at the end.

Book 25 for 2025 *SPOILERS*
"Our family business is dying, lets recruit this hockey player that used to be really good but is on the decline! Let's send the one person in the business that used to be a fwb with him to do the job!"
"oh no, it's sooooo hard not to wanna be with him, but I'll lose my job, gotta think of the family business first."
"wow, he's being really rude because of his trauma and is projecting, let me leave because he's insulting me. oh he followed me outside. oh now were in the middle of a snow ball fight somehow after he insulted me and followed me. oh wow were in a hotel together, I wonder what's gonna happen!"
"oh no, everything is falling apart because were both terrible at communicating about our feelings and we can't process the trauma that we've both been through, I think this is a match made in heaven!"
"oh his mind is so clear now that we've gotten together, I'm so glad that I was able to push him to his mental limit and he somehow is okay now! Let's live happily ever after!"
Only reason I didn't dnf this book is because I was driving and didn't want to get into an accident over a book this bad.

Great hockey romance. And well narrated. I'm still mad at Hunter's dad.
