This was a short little story set in between books 1 and 2. It's told from Griffin's point of view as he gets a strange case to retrieve an talisman before sundown on valentine's day. Griffin had planned a nice evening with his boyfriend, but things don't go according to plan when it turns out there's something strange about this talisman that he has to retrieve. I enjoyed this little story in between the books and getting Griffin's point of view. I liked seeing how he also felt insecure and had his own worries. I would've liked a few more details and explanation about the talisman.

Sweet story from Griffin's perspective. I read this before book 9 as an introduction to 'Miss Lester's creepy grandfather,' as the book 9 intro states. It was fun to remind myself where Whyborne and Griffin's characters and relationship began. Read July 30, 2023.

"Eidolon" is a short story in the W&G universe and it's... Well, short. Short and cute, though.

It's Valentine's Day and Griffin is dealing with his own relationship-based insecurities, so he wants to charm the heck out of Whyborne with a perfect evening. Alas, he gets a last-minute case which is absolutely urgent, so he needs to solve that before anything else.

I like the premise, and I like seeing the world through Griffin's POV (he looks so secure from outside!), but the mystery remains mysterious to us readers and it leaves me wanting to know more (or wishing it were more mysterious).
