4.5⭐️ I thought this book touched a topic that is often forgotten during war-time adaptations: the women. I especially liked the parts about Vivianne.
I do, however, understand some of the critisism that can be read here. First, I do not understand why the author throws in French words here and there. Maybe it is for atmospherical purposes? I don’t know, but I did not like it. Second of all, there were some inconsistencies regarding the timeline and how the characters aged. And third, and most disturbing, of all was how the the two protagonists beautiful apparance seemed like the most valuable thing about them. But maybe the book manage to highlight the impact of pretty privilege and how attractive women have certain advatages at times.
