The character of Catfish gives a little bit of racist stereotypes, especially when the race isn't mentioned when introducing most characters other than him. It doesn't ruin the book completely because it's mostly an in the background aspect of an otherwise comedy fantasy novel.

I had tried to read this a while back, and lost interest. So, I decided to listen to it, and YAY. It was a very enjoyable tale, and as usual with Moore, it was weird. I loved the characters and Pine Cove is always a good time.
3.5 Weird, goofy and funny. Everything I expect from Christopher Moore.

This book had all the swearing, lustiness, and hijinks I expect from Christopher Moore. It had me in stitches at points. It's incredibly inappropriate and funny.
This book was absolutely hilarious. If you're looking for something of substance, this is NOT the book to read. If you want something very wrong and also highly entertaining, check out Christopher Moore.
Quirky and fabulous
I love this author. His tales are outlandish but plausible. Every bit is enjoyable. This book is 10 years from the first with a few characters in common. Completely new monster.
