Full of action. Many places to suspend disbelief, but worth it. I just don't see how the kidnappers let these guys get away with all they got away with during the kidnapping without more dire and direct consequences. But so very entertaining.
Have to confess to skim-reading the last third in an effort to get to the end more quickly to find out what happened. A story about the kidnapping of a child is not an easy read for a parent of young children. I can understand why this was made into a movie.
This is a fast paced, thrilling, page turner. Every writer is told to throw obstacles into their protagonist's path, and Isles does that well here. Hickey, a brilliant kidnapper crazed by a desire for revenge seizes Will and Karen Jenning's 5 year-old daughter Abby. Hickey's motives unfold gradually and Isle peppers each scene with realistic details. Even the accomplices of the villain, Cheryl and Huey, win some sympathy---and that is the sign of a good story teller. And, finally, even tho you know in your heart that things will end well, it's not exactly a Hollywood ending.
I could not put this bookdown! One of my favs by Greg Isles. Captivating!

I wanted a dumb thriller kind of book for the beach, and this was just the ticket.
Exciting, fast paced, was never really sure what was about to happen. I guess that's what a thriller is meant to be like, right? The characters were a little annoying but that is to be expected.
